Will This Work?

I've recently been given a 'hand me down' computer, much in advance of what I currently have.
Am wondering if it'll be good enough to run FS2024.
Specs are:
CPU: i5 12400F
M/B: ASUS Prime B660M
Mem: Kingston Fury beaast RGB 16GB 3200Mhz (2 x 8GB) DDR4
GPU: ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 3050 OC 8GB
SSD: Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB M.2 SSD
Power Supply: MSI MAG A650BN
Fan: P12 PST 120mm PWM fan
Software: Windows 11 Home OEI

Any thoughts? Cheers

Would be glad if know 😇 - lets see what M-$oft has in store first.
My system is pretty close to the X-Box specs and does the job.
Then again - you don't want to run everything on 4K and ULTRA - do you?
Still: adding some memory to lets say 32 or 64Gb won't hurt .🤷‍♂️

Given the current performance of FS2020, I'd say you'll be fine at medium details with that -- heck, I've run MSFS on an Asus ROG Ally handheld with the details turned down.

You'll want to bump the RAM to 32GB unless FS24 is somehow much less memory intensive than FS20, but otherwise it should be okay. Not optimal, but certainly not terrible!

Look closely at your Mother Board. If it is a -A D4 then you could very easily replaced the CPU with a i7 and upgrade the ram to 32GB

Refer to this link if it fits your model and make sure you purchase the supported hardware.

The memory upgrade may not break the Windows 11 licensing but the CPU most likely will. That will force you to purchase another license for Windows 11.

Still for those three items I bet you have less in it than you would buying the whole rig new.

i5 to i7 is only going to make a significant difference if FS2024 is much better at multithreading than FS2020.

Also, you won't have to purchase a new license if you swap CPUs. MS Support will fix that for you if it causes an issue; it might not, given that Win 11's a bit smarter about upgrades than older versions.
