Win 7 x 64 bdp file location

Can anybody tell me where the bdp files are located please. I have just installed ETO 1.2 and I've deleted the viewUI file but can't locate the bdp files. The BDP Zapper is not working

the "*.bdp"-files are automatically generated when CFS3 starts. They are present in the folders for every aircraft, ship, vehicle, weapon etc that was properly loaded.

Whenever you make changes in the "*.xdp", "*.air" or "*.cfg"-files of an aircraft etc., you have to delete the .bdp file so that cfs3 can rebuild a new one for the changes to take effect.....

Try running the bdp Zapper as admin (right click on the icon, select "run as admin"). and you should be fine.

You need to run up ETO 1.2 at least once, in Free Flight etc. to have the initial .bdp files generated into the folders. Then beyond that the files will be present in the folders... it is then that the zapper can come into use.

Also note : There are a few posts about a 'false positive virus" the zapper execute has, which with User Account Control on will block it from being installed or used. Turning off that (or your personal/other AV proggies) should get it working for it's intended purposes for you. Good Luck ~S~

If you need to get the Zapper again Beau Brummie has posted it on his site as a standalone download so you won't have to re-install ETO.
 
thanks for that, I must say that CFS3 and all it's additions look mighty fine with a new system ..... I haven't installed MAW, PTO or Korea thus far. Are there install guides for them anywhere?

maybe off base here but the old file structure directive for everything was c/program files/microsoft/microsoft games/ whatever......and w/ Win 7 there are two program file folders...the 64 bit one called (x86)....you may have to edit your zappers to find 'em there

To be clear in win7 64 bit the x(86) programs folder is for 32 bit programs. ETO by default does not install there, you have change the path during the install to point it to the x(86)\programfiles\microsoft games.

Yes there are install guides about

Firstly make certain your CFS3 stock is a clean install as they say having been upated to v 3.1a from the Microsoft offical website for CFS3 only.

The add-ons use the stock files as a "foundation", and if you modify CFS3 files prior to installing the add-ons, you could corrupt the auto-installers.

So only install the Microsoft CFS3 updates before you install the add-ons.

Also, depending on the OS you are using, and of course your Video Card there are some critical things to know about, especially for multiplayer.

Definitely look into reading the CFS3 Tweak Guides online for that too.

In one add-on install you will likely need to change the folder path of the installers if you are using a Dual or Quad Core processor, including also some editing of a few entries in a .bat file because it was done back in the days of the dinosaurs or something, lol just kidding, but it is required as stated above.

There's alot more to cover but it's all case and user specific beyond that except to say that ETO 1.3 is being released soon so keeping a stock/3.1a version of CFS3 ready to install it is a good idea and if you have anything you get stumped on imparticularly I'll try to let you know how I did it here.

Thanks for the help everybody. Last week I tried to install vfs3 to my spare HDD but I just could not get it to work (even by changing the file paths). So I gave up and just installld to my C drive ... everything installed just fine. Followed all the directions and did the command line changes without a hitch .. all good ... but BDP zapper just won't run and it states:
"windows cannot access the specific device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them"
I have checked and BDP zapper in the ETO folder is listed as compatable with windows xp service pack 3 and is running as admin. .... should I download it again and re-install??
I also had a funny thing happen with ETO. I ran the game after the install was finished and it worked fine. Rebooted and it went to the main game window (select aircraft, mission etc) but it crashed to desktop when I selected a mission. I rebooted and it worked just fine?? Any reason for that?

1.: even when you have "admin rights" checked in the compatibility-tab, try running it by right-clicking on the icon and select "run as admin" in the popup menu.

2.: when you changed the era when starting ETO, the airfield you choose previously might not be present in this era. So before hitting the "fly" button, be sure that the "location" button is showing something meaningful. Best is to check the location anyway.

aha ... knew it was something simple ... i just had a Kasperky alrm come up as well that it has just deleted BDP zapper as well !!!!! I had it listed as a trusted program and the little bugger has gone and deleted the files ... I'll have to download it and try again ..... what's Beau Brummie's web site address?
 
Thanks for that just downloaded it (and a few more items :applause:) .... boy Kaspersky anti virus hates it ... now I gotta work out how to stop it deleting the file .....:isadizzy:
 
because kaspersky is seeing the bdp zapper as a trojan and has clased it as a virus, it will no allow it to just sit on a hard drive let alone install it. I have put it in the "trusted" applications but it's still causing me trouble ... is there any other work around for that ..

Hi

Try opening kaspersky and looking for the section that allows you to exempt files. Should in the auto protect section. You should be able to select the zapper file and choose to have kapersky ignore it.

I have Symantec and what I do is disable auto protect. Installed the zapper, browes to the exemption section and choose the file. Then reinable auto protec

I thought I had done that by selecting "trusted" for it, I can access the file by doing this but as soon as I go to install it just comes up as a known virus and won't let me go any further. At least I have stopped it automatically deleting it ... more fiddling to do now ....
