Hello,

I have difficulties to install VWScenery R4.7.
I do not undersatnd where it must be installed.
I have tried in the C drive but I have errors.

My CFS games ar on my K drive.

Help please
Thanks in advance

Hi Emile

There is a Readme file with installation instructions in the zip file!

Quote:
4.7 Allows the system to be installed on any Drive – but path will always be:
??:\WMScenery
where ?? = A: or B: or C: or D: etc

I have it installed on my E: drive where I have all programs and games installed.

But my OS is WinXP 32 bit and WMScenery was released in 2005 long before Windows 7 was released, so I don’t know if it’s a Windows 7 or 64 bit problem.

Cheers

Hello vonOben,
I have red the documentation, I have installed the VMScenery in my C drive (c:\) but VWScenery try to go to the F drive ... I have NO F drive ...see one of the screenshots. I have set the Compatibility mode for XP SP3 and "run" as administrator.

I will try to install it on my K drive wher all my CFS games are installed ... and see what happens

Hello, I have installed the VMS to my K drive , seams OK but when I start the .exe it goes again to the F drive ...

Next try I will create an empty F drive ...

Hi Emile

So the installation goes OK, but you get those errors when you try to start the WMScenery Manager?

Normally when you start the WMScenery Manager the first time you set the path to the drive you have it installed to, but the manager never opens for you?

Quote from the Readme document:

1) How to Use the Manager

1.1) Create a Desktop Icon and Shortcut
The Scenery Manager can be run from Start, All Programs, WMScenery, WMScenery
Or you can create a shortcut to the desktop:

1.1.1) Navigate through Start, All Programs, WMScenery and right click the WMScenery Application and select send to desktop as shortcut.

1.2) Initialise the Scenery in the Scenery Manager itself :

Start Up the Scenery Manager - double click your desktop icon.

1.2.1) Setup the path to your \assets folder of your chosen CFS3 installation in the top right path browser window.

1.3) Select a Drive and then Press The INSTALL button top right

The drive selection is next to the text WM Scenery Drive - the path is automatically geared to \WMScenery
This will install all the required folders and files to your Assets folder of the chosen CFS3 install path in 1.2)

Hope it helps!

Hi Emile

I checked my Windows Registry and all WMScenery settings are stored there.

So if you can't get your paths to "take" try to run Regedit if you are comfortable with Registry editing.

This is the way it was on my computer (Win XP 32 bit):

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/VB and VBA Program Settings/WMScenery/Settings/ (You can make a search for WMSrc)
Here are all paths and settings stored:
CampPath
CampWeatherPath
MissionSetPath
Path (to assets folder)
WMSrc e:\WMScenery (in my case)

Good luck

Hello,
1/ When I try to install this WMScenery I do not have the 1.2.1 as above I cannot setup the path to these folders

2/ In my Win7 X64 I do not have the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/VB and VBA Program Settings/WMScenery/Settings/ (You can make a search for WMSrc)" VB anVBA program settings " is not present.

3/ is there a way to install this WLScenery manually into CFS3?
Thanks in advance

Hi Emile

I got the impression that the installation did work, since you can start the Scenery Manager. Is that not the case?

If you start the WMScenery Manager it doesn't look like this?

If the installation does work and the problem is to save the different paths - the manual way should be to edit the paths in the Windows registry. Since you have Windows 7 the WMScenery might be somewhere else in the registry.

Did you try searching for WMSrc in Regedit?

Cheers

Hello,
When I "click" on the Icon WMScenery
I have the "Path no longer found...." see screenshot and this for every path needed by WMS

So I do not have the same window as I see in your reply.

I have searched my registry for the " WMSrc" and it is NOT present ...

:banghead:

I add a log I found in the WMScenery folder

Hi Emile

It's difficult to help since I don't have Windows 7, so I can only guess.

1. I wouldn't install WM Scenery to Program Files (x86), since it's a 32 bit program!

2. I would also suggest not installing to the Program Files folder at all, since Windows 7 handles program files slightly different.

3. If that doesn't help then my last suggestion is to install the older 4.6 version which must be installed on the C: drive.

Hope it helps!

Cheers

Hello VonOben,
4.6 is installed without problems.
See screen shots
Now I need to read the documentation to see how to use it.

Is it possible to upgrade to the 4.7?

Thanks in advance

Hi Emile

I'm glad it finally worked for you! :jump:

The only change between 4.6 and 4.7 in the program itself should be the possibility to install on other drives than C:, but you can use the texture files from 4.7 instead of those in 4.6 if you like.
Rename the C:\WMScenery folder to WMScenery 4.6 for instanse and replace it with the WMScenery 4.7 folder (the folder must be named WMScenery). There shouldn't be any problems and when you have tested and everything works well you can delete the WMScenery 4.6 folder.

Cheers

When I start the manager iI am getting the following message :
"Number of Configured Pilots in CFS3 is now too High-Delete Pilots until there are less than 60"
The manager wont work. It did with version 4.6.6.
I have NEK installed and never had this problem before.

Hello,

Done, now I will read the Doc and try....

I am interested to see your luck with 4.6. I though the only difference is the drive to which it can be installed so the ? is why Win7 would let it go in C: with 4.6 but problems with 4.7??
