Win7 64 bit FSX install guide?

Well, was effectively forced to (finally) upgrade to Win 7 64bit after messing up my Win VISTA registry a couple of days ago (don't ask, but it had to do with trying to update my NVidia drivers and an already potentially corrupted VISTA registry). So yesterday I installed a new 10,000 rpm HDD and Win7 64bit (runs very very nice). Also upgraded from my old 768MB 8800GTX (anyone want to buy a used video card;-)) to a 1024MB GTX 460 (superclocked) card. I was wondering if there's a good guide for installation and operation of FSX in Win 7 64bit out there? I did some searches and it seems many have had issues with FSX on Win 7. Just trying to avoid a headache this afternoon when I take the plunge.

BTW, here's the new card I installed:

Couldn't resist at $134.99 - after rebate.

Dave, congrats on the new stuff.

WIN 7 64Bit is actually very easy to setup & run, especially if you're familiar with the headaches from Vista. Just two things to change/learn.

First, don't install to the default "Program Files (x86)" folder. Install directly to your root folder, by simply "removing/striking out" the "Program Files (x86)" name from the installation address. Use the custom installation sequence to accomplish this. This removes all the "permission required" bs from any updates/changes you want to do.

Next, when installing scenery in the scenery library, after clicking "ok" you have to add one more click that is not stated in instructions. Move arrow/icon to main white area in pane window, and left click. This will add line to scenery cfg. as you are used to when you click "ok".

Otherwise, everything is the same.

Enjoy

Dave,
The only problems I have had with running FSX on 64-bit Win7HP is the pesky UAC thing.
But, like modelr, I don't install my sims into the default Program Files locations either so the sim folder fall outside those control bounds anyway. I have a complete separate partition on my HDD where my sims live...makes it easier to back up and restore that way.

Otherwise, all of the tweaks in that thread that big-mike linked are good tweaks to smooth out how FSX will run on your system.
