Windows 11

into my inbox today good news from MS - WINDOWS 11 coming soon to a PC near you! (Expletive Deleted) Just when you start to settle down a sim or your O/S along comes MS to bugger it all up again. Now to keep it from trying to roll over my PC like it did when they pulled that trick with WIN 7 to WIN10. I suppose the MSFS crew will be happy when they update it all to DX12 and XBOX compiiant and dumb down the user interface to make it look like a smart phone.

Thats all Folks!!

Bloody Muppets!
I found the same 'invitation' and noticed that it was touting the 'new' O/S on cosmetic lines.
You can put lipstick on a Pig but it's still a Pig......in this case you can paint a turd gold but it remains a turd!
Windows 8 redux?
:banghead:

Dont forget about checking do you have TPM 2.0 port also if you would like to use Windows 11. :biggrin-new:

To check it: Win+R, write tpm.msc and check the version.

It's all going to be subject to change -- usually without notice -- depending on how much hostility these 'requirements' generate.

MS's version of COVID I call it - there will be unintended consequences. Whoever described MS Windows as the ultimate virus was dead right - this one keeps mutating! You certainly can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear but you sure can make a sow's ear out of a silk purse. I curse the day IBM let Bill baby have X-Windows instead of letting dos die! Basically a super duper version of DOS hiding as Windows every two years by my count! Now if I can just keep 11 out of my 10 I am not ready to be transgendered yet!

Neither of my comps have TPM installed. Neither my notebook (which I use on these forums,) nor my gaming rig.

From what I read, there is a lot of hype about this marketing gibberish, apparently this module is not necessary for W11. Due to this rumor, the prices of this TPM 2.0 module have now traveled 2x, 3x up even LOL.

An extra point to bear in mind is that there are many of us who won't be able to get this because of the age/abilities of our system's processors.

Scalpers are scooping up the TPM 2.0 modules, thinking they can get another big payday. I hope M$ drops this requirement and the scalpers choke on all the modules they are hoarding.

I checked each of my three computers, including my brand new i9 10900, none have TPM. If this is the final decision for inclusion to Win 11 party, it will be a small gathering. At least until the new generation of computers with TPM are built and distributed throughout computer land.

You probably need to enable it in the Bios.

Just ran into an interesting problem.

Enabling TPM in the bios doesn't seem to have any ill effects but I recently found out that apparently Secure Boot also need to be enabled for Win 11.

Only problem is that if I enable Secure Boot on my PC my X55 wont work.
When I plug it in the lights on the stick and throttle light up OK and I get the bing bongs to indicate that windows has detected them OK but they don't work at all.
If I go back to the bios and disable Secure Boot the X55 works fine again.

Looks tike I may have to get a new HOTAS if I wish to upgrade to Win11
My X55 is getting pretty long in the tooth and I did have to open the throttle up some time ago and do a bit of very amateurish soldering to fix it so it's probably lot long for this world any way.
