Windows 7 Frustrations

Well, I decided tonight go ahead and install the 64 bit version of my Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade. Backed up all of my original data, mainly FS stuff to a 3rd drive that I have in my system. Inserted my disk and I was off formatting my hard drive and installing the 64 bit version of 7... If it could have been that easy!

After waiting for it to install it came to the screen where it asked me to type in my product code. Typed it in exactly, checked it, double checked it and clicked on next. INVALID Product Key!

What? Well maybe I am supposed to type in my Vista product code first, NOPE.. Went back, formatted and started over.. Same thing! Invalid Product Code! Only me man....

Customer support here I come! After contacting customer support I was informed that product support for Windows 7 was free! Wow! Thats great I thought! After giving the first lady my life history I was transferred over to another "specialist" and she ultimately had me bypass the product key and had me do some regedits and script changes to my registry I was ready to reboot. After rebooting I was able to activate Windows 7 without a hassle, but man I thought this was supposed to be easier!!

I did notice that the support was much friendlier, but I did have three beers into me by that point.. Installing FSX now!

I had the same problem..lol. I found it is best to install it and when it comes to typing in the ID number, don't type anything in there and let it finish installing, reboot and select custom, then type in your ID number. The update you have is really the full version...Mike
