Hallo friends,
Just put out from my reserve hangar the fine WOP Heinkel He 219 Owl.
Now I search if some repaints has been done for this bird, especially for the A-5 and A-7 versions.
I just found one or two for FSX.
Aren' there any more?
Best regards
Kenavo

There's one by Rene Spaan at both Avsim and Flightsim.com

"
File Description:
This HE-219 A-0/R6 livery resembles a fictional Luftwaffe HE-219 in particular NJG4 colours flown by Major Otto Werner (inspired by the Biggles comic book "Battle of Britain"). This particular livery has the remarkable "unicorn" nose-art. You need the Heinkel HE-219 by Wings of Power in order to use this repaint. Legals, credit's etc. are included in the ReadMe.txt file."

Good evening Pete,
thank you for your advice, but the ones on AVSIM are for FSX. The fsx version of this bird has total changed textures
which can not be reworked for FS2004
And on flightsim.com, even locked in I have no more search possibilities, perhaps due to the fact that their server does no more deal with xp
Best regards
Kenavo

The only repaint that I have for FS2004 is "wop_he219_wb.zip", which used to be at flightsim but can still be found at avsim.com . . .

Good morning friends,
now I have the repaint for the A-0 "Otto Werner" (the one Rohan wrote)
what is astonishing me that it seems that at the time this bird was released
there has been some more repaints.
As it is very well done it is astonishing that no more repaints have been done
Best regards
Kenavo

Papi,
I could not agree with you more - such an incredible model deserved many more repaints than the one that I was able to download way back around the time that the model was released . . .

For most repainters I expect this isn't a very attractive model to repaint. The top surfaces are always the same light blue/gray with medium grey dots pattern. And for the lower surfaces it is either the same light blue/gray as the upper surfaces or black.
As far as I recall there haven't been any spectacular schemes with shark mouths or something similar (as on the Bf110). So all possible variations are more or less already covered by the default liveries.

Therefore I perfectly understand why repainters don't spend days/weeks to create a paintkit, just to do a very similar livery.

Just my 2 cents,
Huub

Good evening Huub,
the reason why suddenly I got interested by this bird is the german Book "DIE SCHWARZE JAGD" written by
Rudolf Braunburg. The story is about a fervent civil pilot who is cosmopolitain and hates politics. At war began he was a pilot at the Lufthansa than was enlistened as transport pilot at the Luftwaffe. When his girl friend was burned in his arms by an night bombing raid he turned to the nightfighters. There he became an ass with a score of 44 downed bombers. At his last mission he shot down a Stirling but also was hit and had to bailed out. He lost one leg and it was over for him. I like this book as it shows how horrible it was politics pushing men against each others againt their own beliefs. The Pilots first did fly a Bf 100G and than later the He 219. Both planes had the name Garuda. This symbol he took from his former flights with Lufthansa to far countries
I do not know if this book has been translated.
Yes, the nightfighters are not very attractive indeed. I especially hoped to find repaints in german colors for the A-5 which is in Czech colors and the A-7 which is sporting RAF colors
Best regards

For those who like to fly the He219 Uhu, but don't want to spend money on one, I can recommend the Heinkel He219 A7 done by Kazunori Ito. It is one of his better models and have both the payware A2A one as this free one istalled.

The model can be found at Flightsim.com : https://www.flightsim.com/files/file/121547-fs2002fs2004-heinkel-he-219-a7/

Mike Zola did alternative flight dynamics. Which don't solve all (usual) issues with Mr Ito's model, but are definitely a huge improvement.
Mike's flight dynamics can be found here :
https://sim-outhouse.org/sohforums/resources/fde-files-for-kazunori-itos-heinkel-he-219-zip.10378/

And last but not least Morten did some alternative liveries for the model. They can be found here:

Cheers,
Huub

Good evening all,
from my humble point of view I prefer the WOP He219.
For the moment I try to make a more suitable radiostack with german radios.
The other one is in my reserve hangar on external HD
Last night as could not sleep I searched some Lancs or Stirlings sweeping the Berlin -
Rostock area but found nothing LOL

I have to agree with Michael, this is my all time favourite sim model. Everything about the WoP 219 from the model to the texs, VC and flight model are all just superb. I liked the ac already but to get such a great sim version, was just great.

Huub, I understand what you say about Ito-san's version, it is good, and it's free, and that tex, well lets say it's very close to the WoP one...ha ha ;)...but it does look good.

And, Michael, as Huub also says, apart from the slightly different variations...it's all about RLM 75/76 and 22, maybe with odd bit of 65. I did squeeze Bravo4's CFS3 He219 A7 Mossie hunter tex onto the WoP one, I'll upload it, as it is a little different. I'd like to make a 3 seater A5/R4 out of something...sometime.

Cheers

Guys, please don't get me wrong, I fully concur that the WOP/A2A model is the better one from the two options. However for those who don't want to spend $10 on the A2A model the model by Mr Ito is a nice alternative. The external model is nice, and although Mr.Ito's VC is not as sophisticated as the one from the A2A model, is still reasonable, especially when you increase the resolution from the VC in the panel configuration file from 512x512 into 1024x1024.

And nice textures! (y)

I thought I had uploaded the nightfighter textures for the Groundcrew BF110 e and D models, but obviously I didn't, I will try to do this soon(ish).

Cheers,
Huub

the only thing I realy dislike on the WOP He 219 is this radiostack.
I will release what I did with german radios and gauges this weekend.
For those who like it I include a simple weapon effects add on
Also I found how to introduce in the VC clickspots for the radiostack and
Jorges german moving map. As the He 219 was employed just over germany
this map will be well.

would the "VG+LW" suitable for FS2004. Or only for FSX?
If suitable for the FS2004 version of the WOP He 219 I would
be glad to get it

As I expected I found both JanKees's repaints at avsim, and both were done for FSX. Like Michael already mentioned before, the FSX model has a different texture layout. However it didn't take me too much time to convert one into something usable for FS2004.

LUqwypR.jpg

Just a couple of things about Jankees texs (but not knocking them!) The all black VG+LW is the tex of one of the first A0 219 prototypes, and the R2+DH is from a French aviation comic/magazine called Le Grand Duc, so neither are from operational ac.

Cheers

I have finished the conversion of the prototype textures. I have added the alpha layers and toned down the fan behind the cockpit. When anybody is interested I will upload them. It won't be a problem to get the permission from JanKees.

The real He219 V1 VG+LW wasn't equipped with radar. It made is maiden flight on 5 November 1942. The aircraft was 15 kilometers per hour slower than expected, stability was inadequate and there was some vibration in the tail section. Nevertheless the aircraft contained many features ahead of their time, and was very easy to maintain.

A complete black one is at least something different ;)
