Wings of prey

It certainly looks impressive! I take it that it's a PC version of the console game?

Unfortunately my pc doesn't even hit the min specs, will be very interested to hear what those on this forum that can play think.

..and more importantly.....is it moddable??

Yes: if it has realistic flightmodels ánd if it can be modded by users, then our community has something to worry about. :kilroy:
The graphics are stunning.

Did someone try it allready?

I trolled the forums today and read a mixed bag. Graphics are great and use is easy. The flightmodels are terrible and if seems that it is only developer moddable.

demo

yes you can download the demo
i did soon took off my hard drive i think you need a mega rig to get anything from this game so can not judge to harshly
with eto 1.30 on its way cfs is the best by far
what great with cfs is its scope it can always be improved
ps hurry up 1.30 i go on holiday on weds so i will miss out:icon29:

i did demo version ....all i have to say is heavy in lea on grahics and reminds me of playing on ps3 ..........imho it sucks . based on what ive learned here and whats been freely developed for realism .

all i can say good is the graphics on certain levels are good . but as for realism and all . it sucks .

eto/cfs3-sliders maxed out and all ... with addons, eto wipes the :ARSE: of that game .

and for 50.00 bucks plus approx ....donate here "INSTEAD" more bang for your buck in here .

any doubters ....play there demo .then if yuou have ps3 its like that il2 on ps3 ...

hail eto group

Well I've tried it and it does actually run on my pc which is just below the min spec here. however I didn't try combat I'm more interested in the scenery. There's nothing here that CFS3 doesn't have EXCEPT that the scenery, ground details, shadowing, reflections etc are absolutely stunning.

There's a few innaccuracies like the Spit is a mkII but it has cannons, the wrong pit and post 1940 markings but stuff like that I guess will be fixed or alternative skins made.

IF the developers are far sited enough they should make this open to mods for those of us who prefer to fly offline in our own 'little worlds', then it would be an amazing piece of software.

As it is I'll probably buy it in a few months when it's cheaper, I can't see it knocking cfs3 off my top spot for a while though, but if it were made open then I'm not so sure.

a few pics..

and a few more..one feature I really like is the dynamic cockpit shadows and the shadowing of the external parts on each other, like the cockpit and fuselage onto the wing.

I tried it out tonight, my card has only half the recommended ram, but it ran pretty well with good frames!
I tend to agree with you Clive, lot of pros and cons,(quite a lot of niggles I didn't like) the scenery is really very nice, though, even has swaying trees!
The key is, will it be open? I don't think it will, but just think what could be done if it was!

I've spent a while browsing the WoP forums..my overriding feeling is that this is very much a game and not a flightsim (it also has the usual IL2 numpties amongst the posters) and that it probably won't be moddable, which is a missed opportunity IMO. Flightsims are never so good as when they are open to improvement. The devs are playing to the online gamers in this one it seems.

Having said that I'll be keeping my eye on it, you never know!

Wings of prey (wop) has a business model like Rise of flight.
you pay and activate it by internet (then you can play without internet connection)
and you pay for the add on : a P40 for 3$. :(

Even if they planed a mission builder, its sure it wont be moddable as our m$ series.

Graphics are incredible, but sceneries are small, and i wont be able to start with my boston from Harfordbridge for a bomb run to Chevilly la rue.

I also tried the demo version. Sure, it comes from a console game (adaptation of "bird of prey"), but realistic graphics are so impressiv. Look also the effects on the cockpit : oil from your target, water when going through coulds, impacts.

So good to play as dogfight in an impressiv realistic graphics and scenery, but still far away from cfs3 concept.
