Sorry to keep beating this horse. But FS9 no matter what I do will not stop its pauses ...

I have rewritten the config in every concievable way...
Adjusted the Driver settings and FS9 settings ( with a possible linitless number of combinations ) I have maybe tried them all...Or close

Indexing is off....

Sound has been checked (Thanks Terry )

Today I used AlricityPC (Ken Salter's Program ) to shut down every service running background tasks, including Desktop shell..Only background tasks left on were for internet connections, and sound.....It was better but still paused and stuttered some.....

So... I used to with my old bloatware HP turn odd all MS Services thru MSCONFIG........

I do not remember how this was done properly..Does anyone have a link to a tutorial for shutting down all non essential services ???

Thanks....... I'm starting to think perhaps its a ATI 4870X2 driver problem....

Update.....I totally uninstalled AVG Free and the pauses all but stopped..Now they are few and more micro than before...That might be sound related...

AVG never had this effect before...But it appears to now ..At least unless I'm fooling myself it has greatly improved.....

Thinking I will try NOD 32 for a month and see.....

You could try avast, its another free one and it works pretty well for me. When i play around on flightsim i always turn off virus protection and i think it improves things a bit.

*(where the hell have all me blooming posts gone! lol. it says this is my first post :p)

Hi Harleyman,
If it is an A/V problem try the 3 free a/v programs at PC Tools. They are the a/v program,Firewall and threatfire.Use very little in the way of resources.

This happened with me for a while.. Finally found out what it was. My new anti-virus program, the system directly linked was the 'program protection' system. It runs a seperate version of the program beside your 'functioning one' to monitor how its running (for some reason). Thus, you have 2 sims running instead of one...

:banghead:

Thanks for the ideas..I saved your link Budda13 and will give them a shot tommorrow...

AVG used to be able to shut down from the toolbar, but after a few later updates can't be done that way.it has to be done in Taskmanager, but AlacrityPC will also do that too,but kill allothers at the same time with one click..( I did not kill AVG when I tested Alricity{C this morning) but now I see it needs killed or replaced...

Thanks....:ernae:

Oak666...I want to look into avast also...Thanks.....:applause:

I use NOD32 & SpyBot without any problems at all. I'd recommend NOD32 & SpyBot

AVG and Spybot were both updated recently, and Im told BOTH are now resource hogs. I stuck with ver 7.5 AVG, and S&D 1.5 but ONLY update the virus defs. My old Nvidia 6600 card loves fs9, no studder at all.

Also watch firefox 3, it has major issues as well, ver 2 still works great.

I had a funny feeling that my AVG update had done this...It used to turn off from the tool tray...Today I noticed it said that only the feature of it being there would be affected....

So tonight I had AlecrityPC turn it off,and I had no pauses till after about 15 minutes...Then I had one pause, followed by three tiny micro stutter / pauses..The first for that......

That might still be from my onboard sound that I will go further into tommorrow...

Thanks for all the tips....:applause:

I had everything auto shut down with AlercityPC..Even the desktop shell.....LOL
