WOAI help please

SOH-CM-2014
Now that my computer glitches are fixed I was finally able to use the WOAI downloader. I loaded up a Delta package, got no errors, checked they were compiled by TTools but saw nothing new at the hub KMSP. Rather than go swimming around the WOAI forums I thought someone here might be able to help me out. Now that my system can probably handle some decent AI I was looking forward to some company on the tarmac. Thanks in advance.

I put it to 100% just to check. The program says it will warn of any conflicts with other AI and I assume then nothing will show. Could the afcad for that particular airport be connected? I know nothing of creating AI and hoped this would work as easily as it said. I must be missing something somewhere but it looks like all the AC, airports and traffic files loaded.

Could the afcad for that particular airport be connected?

Most definitely, if there are not enough parking spaces (or indeed, any parking spaces with many of the default airports) it will affect AI; I'm sure Minneapolis-St Paul will have some spaces, but might be worth checking. Two other options for you:

Try reinstalling the WOAI package, just to be sure
If you do a lot of flying from KMSP, then you might want to check out some upgraded scenery - frf-kmspv5.zip at Flightsim looks nice.

That is the one I have installed but on closer inspection I found no afcad file in the package, at least nothing that starts with af2_... There are several other KMSP sceneries out there so I'll try another to see what happens. Or I can try an afcad from MM's afcad dump.

There is an AFX.... bgl in there, which is an Afcad file prepared with Airport FacilitatorX, but could be worth checking other options. I assume Delta also fly from Seattle, so why not start at the FS9 default airport just to check if they are there?

On my 'modern' FS9 install I have disabled the default AI and totally replaced it with WOAI, MAIW & a number of other packages; mkes for lovely full airports & lovely full skies - I've been known to load a flight just so I can sit and watch the traffic at some airports. :jump:

I tried that AFX file as is then also moved it over to addon/scenery/scenery to no avail. Even tried renaming it af2 just in case. Wouldn't another afcad file mess things up like this? I've looked but not found one. I'll try reinstalling the scenery and the AI. I'll also try the previous v4 of the same scenery which has its own afcad.

Now that you're committed to AI, install Peter van der Veen's ACA2005.
This takes all the guesswork out of AI traffic, and helps with good housekeeping too.
I run it every so often to clean up rogue textures, flightplans calling for non-existent aircraft, stuff like that.
It also has a timetable function which tells you what aircraft are where, and when.
SO you can go to an airport with confidence, and if the AI isn't there, you can go looking for scenery problems.
Get it here:

Maybe I ought to BE committed. Anyway, most flight plans are offered as like 'summer 2006' or some other dated information. Does that matter when it comes to showing the ai? And how can I see how many parking spaces there are? We can kick this to another forum or PMs if needed. Thanks again.

It's been a while that I looked at a WOAI download....so this is just an of the cuff idea.

Does the download include the aircraft, model and textures or only a few txt files which then compile with the TTool installer ??

You might have to look through their read me to see what if any models and or textures you might need to download.

Stefan, the WOAI packages come in the form of a zipped file which you install using their installation tool; it means that you can install multiple packages at the same time. The file should contain everything needed, aircraft models, repaints & traffic files.

The reason I suggested to Aeromed that he try reinstalling it was because there are occasions when the WOAI installer hiccoughs, and misses a file or two - zapping it through again usually sorts it. Aeromed, the date on the flightplan shouldn't matter; WOAI will often update them with new info, but the older ones should still work - my understanding is that they work quite closely with the guys at Alpha India, so the details are pretty damn reliable.

I don't know which of what I did changed things but now there are AC starting to appear. I think part of the problem was a misunderstanding of what to expect, meaning it took several packages installed to make things show in numbers. I though one Delta package would fill out a hub like MSP but it took two plus some other airlines. So things are looking less like The Omega Man or The Quiet Earth as this handy installer does its job. I'll give credit to all who chimed in with helpful ideas as it was probably something someone said that steered me the right way. Now if I can just have some time to figure out that static AC maker!
