The Shawangunk Mountains The "GUNKS" as we called them......Sitting high on a Rige ,was a Momument,Like an OBLISK, One clear day visable for 50+ miles.We always knew where we were VFR,,Pilotage, LOOKING was the way to go.In both the AM and PM it shone bright..Coming upout a Green Ridge,Sitting Alone,you could not miss it.....One Memory I have was taking a Photographer over it for pictures..When Suddenly..I was wing tip to wing tip with a C-130 out of Stewart in Newburg.
