been following the MacRobertson race, wow it's great.

Thinking of setting up the fs9 rig for racing. Not that I would go fast, but it would motivate me to be a better sim pilot in a plane I can handle.
Nord 1101 for speed, dh80 for teh fun of it !!

found this already: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=3408

is there standard for online weather, other stuff besides La Duenna I should know about?

move this thread where it belongs, I didnt want to clog up the race page.

First off go to the Duenna page and down load and install the software. http://johannesmueller.com/fs/web/duenna/

You need the base pack and each update to version 120

Set up your realism settings

Allow crashes, Stress causes damage, All realism settings Pfactor, crash torque set full right.

Real world weather set to update every 15 minutes (static is allowed if you can not update). Down load winds aloft box in weather settings checked.

Don't be afraid to ask questions in the Around the World race forum. You will get answers.

Read the rules and pick your plane. http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=23835

See this thread for a helpful gauge pop up for navigation. http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=24096

Also Don't worry about making mistakes in the race. There is not a veteran in the group who still does not mess up and do something wrong.

These events will challenge the best and worst sim pilots and they are a lot of fun.

One more thing

Set your default flight to Real World Weather or it will not wright it to your cfg file.

Change the realism settings then shut down FS9. That way it save the settings.

Check the changes to make sure they took.

If not change again. FS is strange that way.

Good luck

As far as your comp goes, I'm running a AMD Athlon XP 2000+ at 1.77ghz with 1 gig of RAM and a FX5200 vid card and I'm doing okay with it. This rig is going on 8 years old and is rock steady. Don't count out an older comp for racing.
