Would this be possible?

It's a Facebook post so maybe an issue if you don't have it. :) However the content was

Avro Lancaster B Mark III, ED724 ‘PM-M’, of No. 103 Squadron RAF pauses on the flare path at Elsham Wolds, Lincolnshire, before taking off for a raid on Duisburg, Germany, during the Battle of the Ruhr. Three searchlights (called ‘Sandra’ lights) form a cone to indicate the height of the cloud base for the departing aircraft

Possible yes, special searchlights could be made with their left, right, up, and down limits set in the xdp so they cannot move and only point in one direction. Then you would need to know, or estimate how far apart the three searchlights are from each other, and then do some math so that the direction you have it pointing with the limit settings has them all intersect at the level of the cloud base. The problem is, you would have to do this whole process for each location with each level of cloud base, including a new set of searchlights and facility for each combination.

Thanks for the info Dan, but I think there is enough other more important stuff to be dealing with. I sort of suspected that answer!
