Pilots for CFS2

Sometimes I wish I could replace the pilot figure. We have of course Martin Wright's RAF pilot. But what's my options if I want to make f.ex. an Italian pilot clone of Martin's pilot? In other words, I want to change the texture so it doesn't affect the other ones. The texture file could be renamed Italian_Pilot.bmp and then some changes has to done with the BGL I guess. But is it possible?

Morton

The model could be recompiled with the new texture. Just ask MW for perms.

From there export it as a 3ds into gmax. You can then compile it with Allen's weapon bat file. Giving it a new name in the process.

Its an option.

I haven't upload the weapons.bat but you can use any of my CFS2 exploding object using gMax set ups. Ground objects and weapons work the same for the most part. CFS2 weapons don't use the destroyed logic as they don't need it but other than that they work the same.

Use any of CFS2 exploding object using gMax and export the pilot once as the normal model and once for the destroyed model.

Using the CFS2 exploding object using gMax FS2004 and Model Converter X should be the quickest set up for all systems http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?catid=49

If you are still using XP you may be able to convert the bgl to sca and edit the sca by hand and repack it to a bgl.

Thanks guys! I'll look into it. Editing the sca should be possible. I still have an older XP pc.

Suggestion from a lazybone's point of view....

Hi Morton,

as an alternative, from a lazybone's point of view, you could use Bismarck13's Far East Beaufighter RAAF pilot. The colour of hot climate RAF uniforms matches almost exactly the kaki colour of Regia Aeronautica pilot flight suits. I am using this pilot figure for the Quai/D'Attomo CR.32 I am doing with Gius. Take a close look at the pilot in the screenshot here:

This would save you conversion work. If you are looking for some extra fine, de-luxe pilot figure, why not checking Wolfi's Japanese pilot turned into a Luftwaffe pilot by Shessi?

Cheers!

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Other Add-Ons

Description: CFS2 Pilots Pack - WWII Pilots version 1.0

By John P Fortin (Blood_Hawk23) and Morten Krogstad "Morton"

Here are five models based on Martin Wrights RAF_Pilot for use in CFS2.

They are clones of MW's original RAF Spitfire Pilot figure used with permission. This was done so that the RAF pilot figure could be repainted and use different textures for each. There is one for Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, and a new one for Britain.

The textures are made by Morton and are outstanding.

There are a few mapping issues that we hope to address in the near future.

For now I've also made 5 new versions with animated heads. This was done for fun but I hope you'll like it.

Enjoy

I think I can improve some... (all of them have the same Asian looking face)
so I started with the Italian guy... here it is... available if you care to use the faces I'll make...
(Brit with a big handle bar mustasche, German with blue eyes, etc.)

I don't know what you are referring to...

Great looking Gaucho!!

But, I think you have the Ruski and Brit eyes reversed.

What do you mean by reversed?... Position, color, what?
Those faces were done independent of one another....
Explain a little more so I can correct it if need be...

Great looking faces Carlos! !!
Well done!
To Blood Hawk:
John any chance to have gunner figures too?
Cheers

I was thinking about it. I've actually started on one. Also a pilot that is in a more upright position for use in bombers or any large Aircraft.

Carlos,
I think he was talking about the eye color. I'll send you my email. I'd love to have the textures. You also did a US pilot. so I'll have to make one.

Carlos,

I just envision a Brit with bright blue eyes and a Ruskie with bright red-angry eyes.

That is all I was meaning.
