XPD files

Is there a difference between ETO aircraft xpd files and the stock ones?

Tried a simple mod to the Mossi XVIII file to change the default cockpit view
FOVUP and FOVDOWN
but doing so corrupts the ETO version.

It works fine for the stock version.

Am I misbehaving???

It should be possible the same way as the stock CFS3. Maybe you did not delete the BDP file, or maybe you typed incorrect values ?

Also, modding the XDP will deny you online game.

Thanks for your reply.

HMMM. I'll have to try this again, then.

I made the same mods to the stock Mosquito xviii xpd and the ETO_Mosq_XVIII files; stock one worked, while the eto file reported as corrupted.

As to online games, I'll not likely achieve the skills necessary for that.

No reason whatsoever why the ETO ones shouldn't be just as easy to modify as the stock ones. I've modded enough of them, one way or another... As noelberrier says, you've either forgotten to delete the bdp, or there's a spelling/syntax mistake somewhere. ETO and MAW aircraft are simply CFS3 aircraft - no secret tricks, just more developed effects, etc. They still work the same way, even though the information contained in the xdp is more evolved.

Its easy to overlook a syntax error when you are modifying .xpd or .xml files. I use cooktop, a freeware editor to check my files when I screw one up. This is easy to use and will show you the line number and exactly what the error is. Saves you a lot of time and trouble when searching for your errors.

Thank you one and all.
Did as I was told, and it worked.
(I know, you're not surprised.)

Cooktop is a really neat tool to have in the box!

I'm not sure what precisely I was doing wrong, but it's right now.

Again, thanks.
