• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Yet Another French P-39

This time a P-39Q from GC II/6 "Travail"

This is for Obio's P-39 Q modification of the Overhauled MS P-39. Many thanks to Obio for sending me his paint kit.

It is still a WIP but should be sometime "soon" (I like "soon" it is such a wonderfully elastic time frame)

Hi Ravenna,
It appears (from my quick research) that they were initially based at La Réghaia Algeria and then after Operation Dragoon they were based in the south of France.

My favourite site for info on the French airforce during WW2 is strangely silent on GC II/6 Travail although there is lots of info on GC II/6 prior to it's dissolution by the Vichy military.

Here is a (very) brief history of P-39s in French service
