Yakolev Yak-15 Jet Fighter Model Flies For The First Time in MSFS.

Here's a rare jet fighter not often seen in the game, the Yak-15:

The external model has a personl best of less than 3,500 polys - and that is including the highly detailed pilot figure ....blast, forgot to credit the builder in the end titles. Ho Hum.

You'll recognise my deft handywork on the skin. I used MS Paint to make the bitmap, but I'm going to have a crack at PSP soon.

Pity, MS have pulled the plug on this game.

Beetroot/Onion composite.

Just checked and the pilot figure has 904 polygons ...must find a new driver.

Patiently awaiting you finding a new driver DPS! :woot:

That looks nice. I often wondered about the rear tire also, how they didn't scorch it.

Jet exhaust isn't actually that hot. It mostly feels like a warm wind that's eye-wateringly rich with fuel.

Wow, you did that in (shudder) MS Paint? Impressive! The model looks awesome; can't wait to fly it!

You might check out Paint.net for painting/touchup. It's a freeware MS Paint replacement that's a, um, bit more feature-filled. :)

Steel! Yes, the tailwheel was steel, like an oooold roller skate wheel. Said to make an incredible racket on the ground, and throw lots of sparks.

DPS, Paint.Net and GIMP are two freeware graphic editing programs that you can download and both offer tremendous advantages over old MS Paint, offering layering, cloning, duplicate layering, etc. Give either a try if you haven't purchase PSP.

Thanks Piglet, I never knew that?

Just spoke to my buddy who's a bit of Photoshop artist, so hopefully she will produce a proper skin for the model. I've had a look at GIMP. What I need is an application that will let you slap on a bitmap in 10 minutes, but unfortunately it hasn't been invented yet :)

Gauges could be a problem: I can tweak the XML scripts and do the art but my Cyrillic is a bit weak.
