Yet annother WBS P-51...

Duckie

SOH-CM-2024
This one's from the 118th TRS during low level tactical training in Meridian, Mississippi, winter '43/44.

This particular bird, a P-51B-1-NA was written off on 06/22/44 in Meridian, cause unknown. Probably just plain worn out!

Up in a couple days.

Excellent, Duckie, I actually have long had an interest in state-side examples, with the big white letting at the front, balancing out the insignia at the back of the fuselage. The painted out red surround on the insignia is an excellent touch - the paint looks nice and faded as well. Being a B-1, you could even remove the fuselage fuel tank cap and stencils below and to the left side of it, as the B-1's didn't sport a fuselage tank. I think for the most part, all of the B's kept in the states were the early B-1's, since they couldn't do the same escort work as the B-5's and following types. I really like the natural metal spinner as well!

Will be looking forward to it!

Hey Thanks WH! :wavey:

John, thanks very much for the tips. I'll surely incorporate those into the finished product. :salute:

Sans fuselage fuel cap and stencils - no fuselage tank in B-1s. Thanks for the tip, John. :salute:
