FS2002/FS2004 Vickers Type 287 Wellesley Mk.I. This was a British 1930s light bomber built by Vickers-Armstrongs at Brooklands near Weybridge, Surrey, for the Royal Air Force. While it was obsolete by the start of the Second World War, and unsuited to the European air war, the Wellesley was successfully used in the desert theatres of East Africa, Egypt and the Middle East. By Kazunori Ito.

Not real sure why the pics didn't show up. It's over at Flightsim.

Good Morning, All...
I went through the aircraft.cfg really quick and made some adjustments to the engine(detuned a little), datum point, and contact points, then added a Banana Bob Spitfire prop as usual- she flies pretty nice, and closer to actual top speed. Check it out if you like!

Back up your original aircraft.cfg file and rename this file as 'aircraft.cfg'

Enjoy! -Mike Z.

Considering that this one actually came with a piston engine FDE right out of the box I'd have to say not bad--Kaz keeps improving his craft every time. I used a BananaBob prop from a Blenheim and will sharpen up the VC instruments pretty soon (just go into the panel.cfg file and replace the pixel size=512,512s with 1024,1024; this is in the VC section near the end)
Thanks for the updated FDE MikeZola!
Had to share with a screenshot. Almost looks like a Skyraider from this angle.
Great Job Kaz!!!:ernae:

You're quite welcome, guys-

I forgot to add that I stumbled on a single Bristol Pegasus sound pack by Gary Jones that I plugged in- works just fine...

Although I know that there are aircraft geometry values that aren't right, it does seem to handle like one would expect, doesn't it?

a really dumb question for Mike

Mike, how do you change your fde txt file into notepad so I can rename it?

You don't. Just right click on the file and select the rename option. The file name will be highlighted so just type aircraft. cfg (without the space) and Bob's yer uncle!

Hope this helps!

Myles

nope

That doesn't work for me for some reason, when I do that I get an error message that says the file will no longer be usable, and it turns into an XML file which the sim won't recognize. Seems I used to be able to turn files into notepad by opening them with notepad but although it opens in notepad it reverts back to a txt file ,which as I said I can't rename.
So I flew the plane with the stock file and changed the gauge resolution for the vc and for me it flys fine. I guess I'll have to leave it the way it is.
Thankyou for trying and making the new file even though I can't use it.

Click on the link again.

Then save it as aircraft.cfg

@Mike, can't you just zip these files and upload them. We support .zip uploads now.

Question for Mike

Hi Mike

I have seen them mentioned before, but where can I obtain BananaBob props?

Also do they remove the black discs in fsx.

Hurricane, I'm not really sure what you are asking...but if you want to use Mike Z's FDE, all you hafta do is erase (delete) the ".txt" extension from the file name AND REMOVE THE _ from between aircraft and cfg, REPLACING IT WITH A PERIOD (.). That will leave aircraft.cfg which you then plug into the Wellesley directory in FS9\Aircraft after renaming the existing (Ito's) aircraft.cfg to aircraft.cfg.ORIG

You DO NOT open Mike's file. Just remove the ".txt" part.

There's several ways to save it. I prefer the Save As method. I just change the name to aircraft.txt and then change the dropdown option below that from Text Document to All Files so that the comp doesn't try to re-add the .txt extension. Here's the file zipped:

I got mine many many moons ago when BananaBob (AKA Bob Rivera) had a section on some screenshot site. It is sadly no longer there. However some of his work lives on. For example if you went to Flightsim.com and put on 'Bob Rivera' you would get quite a few alternate prop and rotor textures for both FS9 and FSX (I'm thinking the FSX ones would indeed take out the black discs in FSX but I don't have FSX so I couldn't tell you for sure). I tried putting on 'Bananabob' in the search section of our own SOH file library and got quite a bit back. OleBoy even put a bunch of prop and rotor textures together.
I essentially use two propblurs from BananaBob. One of them was originally for the AlphaSim Blenheim and has yellow tips. The other is all black and was intended for Messerschmitt Bf109's with three bladed props. I'm pretty sure there are two and four bladed props out there however. Hope this helps.

Hi Drzook

Thanks for the in depth prop info.

I like your avatar. Lockheed Altair in Southern Cross paint from Paul Clawson. He built that for me nearly eight years ago because I asked him.

Finally, a chance to sit down and catch up...

Sorry about the trouble with the file- I thought I still needed to upload it as a text file, which shouldn't have been a problem to rename... Thanks for zipping it up, Tom...

Regarding Banana Bob props, I also downloaded a bunch of them from the screenshot site when I saw that they were going to close. I thought I remembered that a lot of his stuff got rounded up and uploaded here at some point. I'm glad I picked them up- usually I put them on almost everything I get, the only exception I can think of are Milton's work (doesn't need them)...

Regards,
Mike Z.

So you're the guy....:ernae:
It's actually slightly modded from the Southern Cross. I added a small window on each side and named it 'Lady Lo' after my daughter who had just been born at the time, registration NR-130LR. Back in the day I had converted it to CFS2 and at some point the windows were transparent due to the way the alpha channels work in that sim. I lost the original several computers ago but have a rebuild somewhere. As a consequence from this plane my favorite color is Consolidated Blue. My avatar started out as a screenshot over Santander in CFS2 (Spanish Civil War campaign). The Altair is a beautiful plane though. Now if someone could do an update with a VC and all...:kilroy:

Thankyou Mike and Tom

Putting the config file in the zip worked nicely guys. I don't know why I have so much trouble renaming files ,I couldn't even rename ITO's oridginal file unless I put it in a folder first.
I tried renaming it ,oridginal Wellesley Aircraft.config but it wouldn't take it.And I couldn't delet what Hawkeye said to without it reverting back to txt.
Anyway putting the config into a zip worked, but I'am gonna redownload the first (txt) and see if I can figure out a way to change it. The sim won't see the txt file even when I did manage to change the name.
Sorry for not explaneing myself better.

Of course!!! (sitting here slapping my forehead)... I knew I saw somewhere that someone had made one before! I had been searching FlightSim, Avsim, and Simviation without any luck...

Anyway, merging/adapting the FDE from Jed's Wellesley should work... I'll try it...
