Yikes - C drive died!

I'm in the process of restoring everything. The Firefly is OK!! Whew, just have to re register Gmax so I can continue using the program.

I have to reinstall FS9 though. I'm used to that now. lol Fortunately I'm able to extract aircraft, gauges, effects folders from the buggered drive to the new one. The rest from scratch, no biggy. I learned not to clutter up FS9 but keep it basic just for this reason. Whew! Let the reinstalls begin.

I hate when HDs go belly up. I spent a fair bit of time early this morning backing up files...sound packs, photoshop repaint templates. Tonight I will back up planes, gauges, effects, scenery and the like. I have 3 DVDs burnt with base set ups of Golden Wings, Silver Wings and stock versions of FS9. No more waiting for the 4 discs to install and uncompress, then having to add in all the tweaks and such....now all I need to do is pop in a DVD and copy the entire base install into a folder on a HD. Bingo Bango....major time saving idea right there.

Why "re register?" Download the official 'workaround' and be done with it! :ernae:

Thanks for the help

n4gix - Thanks for your assistance. The Fairey Firefly project is back on track continuing from where I left off before the C drive crash.:ernae:

I seem to have spent the last week backing up and defragging after my D drive went into melt down.

My XP installation started doing consistancy checks on it and ripping out 2 module from FS9, had to wipe my whole drive and start again.

Luckily I lost nothing.

Doug,

Any news on the Firefly so many of us are drooling over? And how did the reïnstall of your stuff go? No issues I hope?

Take care!

Thanks PB. I'm just trying to get an answer for a strange phenomenon in Gmax where the fuselage exports inside out. Once I find out how to fix this, I can continue. The question is out there, no replies yet.

I added and animated a tailhook, and am about to do the wingfold sequence, which will be quite the challenge. Looking forward to it though. Then, interior and then mapping. I'm reading up on how to do a VC too. I'll have pics soon.

The reinstall of everything went well, just tweaking now to get things the way they used to be. That's a royal pain in the butt. So much time spent trying to get things back. :isadizzy:

Fuselage exporting inside out? I had that happen a couple of times, I think you need to flip the normals for the surface or the texture or summint like that (as you can tell i'm no expert).

If the fuselage is e-mesh, select all polys and hit "Flip Normals." Test in sim to see if okay.

If the fuselage is e-poly, select Element and hit "Flip Normals." Test in sim to see if okay.

If neither of the above work, then add a "Mirror" modifier to the stack. Test in sim to see if okay.

The first two will invert the Normal's orientation. The latter one will actually invert the Faces and Normals.
