I can't kill the Fockker DVII pilots.. When I win (rare) and it happens on the Ace, Veteran but never Rookie) and set them on fire they dont go down.. and that's it .. its a pretty gruesome sight.. (great graphics) you can see the pilot in the cockpit surrounded with flame .. and he's flying it .. on and on and on, and when I land he comes on after me firing . I mean this is unreal.. You cant kill a dead man.. (and the kill doesnt count! grotesque remark...:redf:)

I dont know whether this is common place but.. I've been mainly playing quick flight dogfights.. I've been working through the planes and the rankings.. training ! I'm getting ready for the big Phase 3 push..
.. I've had 25 pilots and a lot more hours now...
Anyway its now happend enough times be 'unnerving'..:wiggle:

I tried to take a screen shots. I dont know whether theres a 'key' command other than the Prt Scrn but.. Where does that go if it works?

BTW two points:
1) I've put my sliders all up to 4.. and I think the graphics is excellent.. a few jaggies but this scenery works..
2) Camel vs the Fokker DVII.. Is this a design feature.. ie by the DEVS The Camel out turns but the Fokker out climbs and out runs.. is this the case.. or is it me? and the Fokker doesnt burst into flames after it lands!:ernae:
anyway .. most pleased.. but maybe I'm being haunted because I called my german pilots Heinz Beanz.. obvious and worse, just bad taste...

The flamers was talked about many times before the crash but now...

I thinks it's a bug coming from cfs3 and you're not alone. I can't remember any solution to it but it will surely be resolved in P3.

You will see less of them in campaign.

In quick flight, the default planes are set by the time you chose to enlist your pilot.
If you chose a pilot flying in 1916, the default planes should be DH2 against EIII and it will change with the in game date.

In Phase 1 it was almost comical, all the german pilots had fireproof flying suits. Now it is vastly Improved. Word is Phase 3 eliminates them, like I said a work in progress.

PS check the sticky OFF Tips . . it states HOW to change Weather in Quick Flight

I didnt really think it was just me...

Oh I'm just trying to find a plane I can fly.. so I just pick and mix.. I've noticed that some times its harder to beat an old slow and low..
..

thanks for the pointer Gimpy I'll give it a read..

wehyam, one way to get a screen shot is to hit the Print Screen button. Exit the game when you are done flying and go to MS Paint. Hit the edit button and then paste. And there you have it. Using this method only allows for one screenie at a time so make it count!

Or download Fraps (www.fraps.com). You can use the free one to take screenies as well as limited length and quality video. Or you can pay for the full version and do much more. I believe that's one of the tools the Dev Team uses to get those great movies they make for us.

I do think you might find OFF Tips and Cheats #17 interesting, and redo your sliders at 5 - 4 - 4 - 4 - 1 :icon_lol:

A much easier way you can take as many screenshots as you want is to hit "Ctrl ;" and any screenshots you take will be stored in your "My Documents" in the folder "CFSWWIOverFlandersFields".

Thanks CJ. is it just Ctrl, or is it Ctrl+Print Scrn?

Thanks guys, thats good .. I've just downloaded Fraps Jarhead.. However what readlly need is an instant replay facility like in M$ 2004 etc.. I need to see what's going wrong with my landings..

Gimpy.. See your words of wisdom.. seriously .. why not cobble it together and make it into a down load .. pdf or something.. I think lots of people, especially newbies like me would find it really useful and it would save you hassle and maybe even angst!!
regards :ernae: or is it already one?:redf:

Hello,
same thing happened other way round:

Flying a DVII in 1918, against Camels. I peppered one so badly that the pilot decided to jump out of the plane at 3000 meters, the plane was only trailing black smoke, no burning.

The plane continued to fly, eventually stopped smoking black, and attacked me again - with the pilot having jumped out lol , but ...?

I also observed that AI planes often have no pilot at all (not visible), and that they often fire, but not at a target, but just in the air ?

Greetings,
Catfish

You're not alone in doscovering these things. They are all part of trying to get CFS3's AI to operate in a slower WWI world. All or almost all of the things you mentioned have been resolved in OFF 3. OFF has been a work in progress and the devs have released the previous two versions so we could enjoy the fruits of their labors while they continued to work and improve. OFF1 brought us Bloody April 1917 and our first taste at the WWI mod which blew us all away. OFF2 brought us 1916 - 1918 and continued to impress. OFF3 brings us the features to flesh out and refine what the first two brought us. Mind you all of this is understatement. Now that you've played OFF, watch the P3 preview videos and see how differently the AI behaves.
