On Thanksgiving Day, around 1 PM, we decided to do some target practice with our pistols.
We were shooting into a hill on our property. Shortly after we began firing, the neighbors started peering out their door.
After we all had fired a couple clips, our neighbor came out on his porch and began shouting obscenities at us. One thing he yelled in particular, was "What the f%$#& are you doing?" My wife simply replied, "Shooting pistols."
He shouted a few more unmentionables, and then sat on his porch and glared at us.
I need to mention that we live way out in the countryside; no where near the city limits. There aren't any restrictions about firing guns on your own property.
It is the first time I have fired my pistol (or any firearm for that matter ) on my property, since we moved here in 2004. Also, aside from my wife calling our cats to put them in in the evening, we don't make any noise that would bother anyone.
But, our neighbors are another matter. If they are outside when my wife calls our cats, they yell and make fun of her. During the summer months, there is constant commotion from their direction. If it isn't noise from a four wheeler needing a muffler, it is the neighbor's wife, yelling four letter words. She has a voice like nails on a chalkboard. Enough to make anyone cringe. This past July 4th they shot off Fireworks, which was fine, but they let their brats aim bottle rockets at our property. That was alarming, because it was a very dry summer.
My wife doesn't want me to start anything with them, for fear they would try to poison our pets. She has a point, but their actions on Thanksgiving Day were upsetting.
What would your reaction be?
I am planning on talking to a cop who lives nearby. All I want to do is make him aware of the situation, if anything would happen to our pets. It would be almost impossible to prove anything, but I don't know what else to do.
