Zero Information

WarHorse47

SOH-CM-2024
I read for about an hour or so every night before bedtime. My library consists of mainly military aviation books, some which I've read a couple of times.

The book I'm readying now is Fighter Aircraft Combat Debuts, 1915-1945 by Jon Guttman. Last night I read the chapter on the development and some of the combat history of the Mitsubishi Zero. Interesting read.

I realized that I have no WWII Japanese aircraft for FSX, so this afternoon I did a web search and ended up getting the JustFlight Zero developed by Aeroplane Heaven. Nice, and something different to my hangar (considering I've been flying nothing but the Milviz P-38L).

Anyways, I did a search for any additional repaints. And, boom. Nothing. Zilch.

I cam across a thread here at SOH that was pretty positive on the Zero when it was first released, and some other reviews out there - but no repaints. How strange.

So, anyone know of any repaints for the JF A6M2 Zero?

Good question Warhorse, it comes with a pretty good paint kit also. This is the best A6M Zero I have ever come across. Hope someone will do some repaints.

Thanks a lot for creating this topic WarHorse.
I have also bought the Zero a few months ago, and it's a really enjoyable model. But I couldn't find any repaints for it either.

Reading this thread gives me the incentive to suggest something that I've been thinking about for a while, wouldn't it be good if we had a section on SOH where members could review aviation books that they've been reading?

Ian

I can't help you with repaints, but you really ought to have the Yanco Coral Sea or Midway IJN carriers to fly it from!

Hi Ian,

Newshawks forum is typically the place where such books can be discussed and or reviewed.

I have those in FS9, but have yet to bring them into FSX. I'm not clear as to any mods that are needed to get the scenery or ai aircraft to function in FSX. I'm sure there's instructions out there, somewhere, but haven't found them yet.

Thanks guy's I think I'd like to do a review or two in the future. I'm currently reading The Kamikaze Hunters by Will Iredale, a very interesting book with some history in it that I wasn't aware of, for example, I never knew that it was actually Germany and Italy that declared war on the USA in the second world war, I've always assumed it was the other way around.

I don't think the AI will work, but the carriers themselves are fine with AiCarriers.

If you want to use them with AiCarriers you need the FSX native packages from SimV in the Misc section page 23. Look for.....

FSX_Battle_of_Coral_Sea_Yanco_San_USNAVY_Aircrafts_Carriers_and_Ships.zip
FSX_Battle_of_Coral_Sea_Yanco_San_IJN_Aircrafts_Carriers_and_Ships.zip
FSX_Battle_of_Midway_Yanco_San_USNAVY_Aircrafts_Carriers_and_Ships.zip
FSX_Battle_of_Midway_Yanco_San_IJN_Aircrafts_Carriers_and_Ships.zip

And if you want to go a little earlier in US Naval Aviation pick up the USS Langley package on page 18.

FSXUSSLangleyCV1.zip

Here is a zip with all the sim.cfg's + AiCarriers config files for the coral sea and midway ships.
Just put all the sim.cfg files in the appropriate ship folder, then place the AiCarriers cfg's into the conf.d folder.
