Getting to fulfill a dream I've had for years...

Hey guys,

I finalized plans today to do something that has been on my "bucket list" for years. On Thursday, July 28th and Friday July 29th, I will be attending the EAA AirVenture Airshow in OshKosh, Wisconsin.

I'm actually going to take my family out to Wisconsin and Minnesota for nearly two weeks (July 21st to August 3rd, 2016) to spend time with family members on my mother's side and give my children some experiences visiting different parts of the country.

However, the time at Oshkosh will just be with my oldest cousin, Jay. He's lived in that state all his life and never been there, the poor soul.

This is one out of two for me...the other airshow I have to visit before I die is Duxford. :very_drunk:

That's really awesome. I highly recommend Sun N Fun too.

You will love it!

First time I went I slept in my car. Met Pappy Boyington.
Spent two days there. Pretty difficult to explain the experience to a non aviation person.

2nd time was a bit different

Pilots put ATC on the intercom. I'll never forget hearing something like "Challenger 601, you're third to land behind Avro Shackleton on short final, 2 P-51 Mustangs on final behind it, please try to land short and take first available taxiway as there is an F-16 behind you".
Met Paul Poberezny, Patty Wagstaff, and Steve Ritchie. A division of the company I was with at the time sponsored Wagstaff, so they sent one of the company birds and there were seats available for some of us unwashed.

Both visits were experiences of a lifetime.
Seeing aircraft I had grown up spending hours reading about, and meeting some of the people who flew them was beyond special. I really should start planning a next visit.

Have a great time Rami (you and your family).

I grew up going to Leuchars airshows with my dad. Watching Vulcans was my favourite part, they were still in service as tankers, along with the mighty 4 twin props of RR Griffons thundering away at the front of a Shackleton (again still in service as AEW).

Always said I'd take my son one day, or at least go back before then. But then the Guv decided to close it down.
Might well have to be Duxford instead :jump:.
