Hypothetical Question: 5 Aircraft

It would highly depend on what mood I am in to fly, But at the moment I would say:

1. MJ C-47
2. JF Fokker F27
3. Flight1 DC-2
4. PMDG 737NGX
5. AH B-17

Once I purchased the newly released A2A T-6, I am sure it will climb that ladder, and some other warbirds will make it in there as well.

This is harder than it seems. Here's my five:

Skysim Sea Vixen
Aerosoft PBY
MAAM TBM Avenger
WBS Mustangs
Milviz F-100 (plus rest - T-38, F-86, F-4E, F-4J/S)

Of course, this list changes from day to day if not hour to hour.
In no particular order;

- Milviz F-100D
- GAS Monocoupe
- Lionheart Q200
- Virtavia B-1B (Beautiful airplane)
- Iris F-20. I have most of the high end combat jets, but I love that this is so simple to hop in and fly. I just wish the two seat version was accurate (They didn't have that info when they modeled it) and it had a cockpit model more representative, in looks, of the actual plane. But those are nitpicks on my part.
- (My WW2 planes I fly the most) The A2A/AF P-51H and Warbirdsim P-51s.

Those are my five, based on how I count.

Then there are all of Piglet's, Miltons, Dino's, Rob Richardson's, and...

I recently rebuilt FSX and ditched everything (parked in a folder called the Hangar) except a few that have taken my fancy. That really focused my mind on what I really never touched and was not really interested in. So whats left, well there is more than five but these are my favourite 5:

1. Manfred Jahns C-47
2. Real Air Spitfire
3. JBK's Shorts S23
4. Lancaster
5. Grumman Mallard.

but next month it might be different, some might get parked in the Hangar and others resurrected.

I'm always switching 'em up. The beauty of FSX is having so many to choose from. I remember the early days of hunting for decent port overs and freeware and settling for lower quality just to have some variety.
We are really fortunate today to have all these outstanding models both free and payware to enjoy with ZERO compromise in most cases. Lucky.
Thank you to ALL who contribute their efforts to this hobby - this pastime - this passion.

If you asked me today in no particular order:

1. A2A or WBS P-51
2. Milviz F-100D
3. M2M M2000-C
4. Aerosoft F-14X
5. Milviz P-38L

2. Milviz F-100D
3. M2M M2000-C
4. Aerosoft F-14X
5. Milviz P-38L

Tomrrow will likely be the

Realair Dukev2
Realair Turbine Dukev2
Realair Legacy
Realair Spit (any)
A2A Spit

5. Captain Sim B737

Actually, I could get it down to 3.

Alabeo Gee Bee
VS SBD Dauntless
CalClassic C-46 Commando with the added bells & whistles I'm putting on it for FSX.

When I look back that the last three to five years on the aircraft I spent the most time farting around with (flying, repaints, sound sets, etc.) they would have to be:

AlphaSim / Virtavia

Martin Mars
B-36B Peacemaker (the non jet version)
B-1B Lancer

If I had to chose just one, I'd take the B-1B. It's my best kick the tires and light the fire aircraft that I have. It's sleek, noisy, and fast. Nice sound set with afterburners (gotta have that), and I really like the VC. AND it is also easy on the FPS on my old fart XP Home gaming rig.

Tommy

My Classics:

AF F4U Corsair (with alternative FDE)
Aerosoft OV-10 Bronco
Aerosoft Catalina
A2A Thunderbolt (awesome FDE in my opinion)
MJahn C-47

It is hard not to include Tim Conrads Porter, Sibwings Bird Dog, WBS P-51, Vertigo Dauntless or the A2A B-17 Fortress in that list. Ask me anytime and I'd probably swap one or the other title from the main list.

Cheers,
Mark

WOW, what an interesting thread !!!

As with most, we all have airplanes we fly that we pick for the 'mission of the day' , however based on 'personal' experiences in my flying career, (and absolutely nothing against all the fine airplanes that have been produced by so many people over the years) I will list the five aircraft that I will always make sure are in my hangar - since they have been produced and presented to us in the Flight Sim World !!

1. Piper J-3 Cub.. How things began !! Nice to go back and have a 'reality check' every so often !!

2. Carenado Cessna 182 or Cessna 185

3. LDR Navion.. (However, not necessarily the 300 version !!)

4. Ants T-28A

5. WBS P-51D

To keep with the 'theme' of this thread, there are my five.. However if we where allowed to expand to 5 1/2, then I would include the Milviz B-55 Baron !!! :wavey:

Bill

Hmmm...

LHC Fairchild 24
GAS Stinson SR8
FR DH114 Heron
AH/JF DH104 Dove
AH Lockheed 10

Probably like vintage aircraft the most...

What I think are my top five are much different than the top 5 that I actually spend my time in:

1) DA20-100 Katana 4X by Marcel Felde
(This one would likely top my list no matter how I cut it, with easily more hours flown in it than everything else I own, across all sims, put together. I'd have to delete it and not touch it for a few years to even start to even out the totals, but it's still my regular flyer that I come back to when I'm done with the latest and greatest from whomever.)

2) R22 Beta II by Dreamfoil
(Yes, my second answer is to turn off P3D/FSX and run a different sim. Sorry.)

3) Twin Otter Extended by Aerosoft
(I don't love everything about it, and I wish that the devs would of been flexible in adding some other avionics options, but it's still one of my highest hour flyers.)

4) F/A-18E Superbug X by VRS w/ TacPack
(A pure joy to fly. I'm not even the biggest fan of the actual aircraft, compared to other, more 'historical' military jets, but it's oh-so-glorious to fly, in every respect.)

5) (blank)
(It's a complete toss up between about 10-15 other aircraft here, such as the MV B-55 & 407 & F86, the Carenado F33A & C185F, the RA Legacy 1&2, Aerosoft's F-14, Dino's F-14, Sibwings An2, Majestic'sQ400, Aerosoft's EE Lightning... Those are all pretty much a tie in terms of time spent in them, and I've more than likely forgotten a few in there.)

I largely expect that this list will start to change over the next few months. I have my eye on a few upcoming releases that, if done as well as I suspect they will be, might break into that list over time. Also, the way I've figured out my list, it's worth noting that there are many releases from the last couple of years that I own which I absolutely love, but are absent from the list because for one reason or another I haven't put much time in them yet.

  1. Project Tupolev Tu-154B2
  2. Flight1 Citation Mustang
  3. Majestic Q400.
  4. Manfred Jahn and team C-117D (with Gordon repaints).
  5. Supronov Yak-40.
