British Pacific Fleet Amost Ready for Rebuild

Too many ships/aircraft perhaps?

I know it is not aircraft. I only have 62.

Ships, perhaps. I will go and look and eliminate those not needed.
I know I added some for MaskRider's scenery for the Sakishima Gunto.

Okay, had over 100 and now down to 56. I eliminated all CFS1 ships and all American and Japanese ships not related to the BPF, which is just about all of them.

I deleted out all US and IJN missions in both campaign and mission folders.
Deleted all references to them in mdlnames and descript, so will shall see if they now show up.

I haven't looked at the air files, but I'd say go with the scalar increase for the prop for the following reason.

Getting the thrust correct on a prop is very hard for the flight model designer because specifications are so hard to come by. Usually prop diameter is all you can find, if that. Using AirWrench you don't get to see how the MOI calculation is done, and prop efficiency is a guess at best. Those numbers have direct effect on the thrust generated by the prop. I frequently have suspected the prop performance is not correct because of weak resulting aircraft performance. Playing with the numbers produces more or less thrust.

Meanwhile pegging the engine is relatively easy. Detailed specifications are available for most engines so achieving proper power output can be done with some confidence.

So it is much more likely that the prop is not giving enough thrust than it is that the engine is under-powered. :banghead:

Thanks Capt K,

I will adjust all of the prop scalars to 1.1 and when ready to upload the campaign, will either include the instructions or include the aircraft.

I really need to learn how to do the self-installers....

OOPS! :mixed-smiley-027:
:pop4:
Something I did yesterday, I for the life of me cannot figure out, my MB now says I need to reinstall due to corrupt files.....:banghead:

Today I will save copies of all of my info folder, mdlnames, scenery and textures and reinstall the base CFS2 program.
Then check MB.
Then, if working, place each file back where it belongs one at a time, check MB for function each time, and proceed.
Which, is going to give me more than a hundred ships again. But no problem, because even with just 68 ships I cannot see or use the separate VN_UT BPF carriers.

Thanks Andrew! :encouragement: :very_drunk:

Downloaded and installed.

Lee,

The Click Team installer should come with a warning label. Please save yourself a lot of expletives and frustration by remembering the golden rule...

No empty folders, especially with ships!

Before running the installer, always make sure to double or even triple-check to make sure there is at least a dummy.txt file in these folders beforehand, otherwise the proggie will delete them. :very_drunk:

Gotcha, I always make sure of that in any case. My installs and MB do not like empty folders. All of my panel and sound folders have dummy files.
AND, ... I will again check to make sure before doing so.

Hopefully, between installing the new sprinkler system in my yard, I will be able to finish up Iceberg I this weekend and do the installer package.

Anyone interested in testing them before I upload?

Hey guys,
The DP in the aircraft calls for wep_kw_jp_600l_tank, but the plane readme has no mention of weapons or drop tanks.
The plane's zip has no weapons folder to find drop tanks or weapons.

Anyone know where I can find the 600 litre drop tank for this aircraft?

Alternately, I will just modify the DP and delete the wep_kw_jp_600l_tank references.

I better look into this!

Hi Rami
Thanks for this No empty folders, especially with ships!
I am sure a lot of my ships have empty folders.
I better look into this!

Okay,

Ten missions created and flown as single missions in Iceberg I campaign. BPF cmg file created, ready to fly them as a campaign this afternoon during the thunderstorms we are supposed to be getting.
Storms are just north of Orlando right now, should be here by noon or so.

If the campaign progresses without issues, I will give the auto installer a try and see how she goes.

Any hearty souls out here willing to test the first of four campaigns eventually ending up as one campaign with four operations?

count me in

Lee,

:redfire:Willing to assist with debugging auto-install & missions, as best as time allows (of course).:wavey:

Thanks John,

I will get the campaign to you as soon as I get done flying it as a campaign..

THAT is IF I can ever get through the first mission without having my Corsair II shot out from under me!!!

I can tell you this much: If you don't destroy your first ground target on the first strafing pass, get out of range of the AA guns, circle the island out of range and send your flight in to take care of it.
Those IJA gunners start tracking only the player aircraft and get pretty good at knowing where you are headed.

Hi all,

Is this packege finally released? I'm keen on it but can't find anywhere in the library.
If anyone knows where I can find, would you kindly let me know it?

BPF Operation Iceberg, Operation Oolong Campaigns

Never finished. Kinda got tripped up when the team realised a lot of Formosa scenery needed doing for Oolong, then IIRC DD had hardware issues & real life just drifted on by.

Course now we have lots of newer stuff, but the issue of using old scenery or Rhumba mesh scenery is still there.

I did A LOT of BPF skins & some airfile tweaking (the Seafire III should be faster on the deck than the Hellcat or Corsair), never released. Still have it all in archive.

Of course now I'd want to do Sumatra differently (for Meridian), & there's still the issue of Formosa & the Japanese Home Islands... :stupid:

Oh I see. I am sorry to hear that.
Yeah, I undersnad Taiwan and Japan scenery would be a issue...........
Indonesia, Includes Sabang, looks much better now with SdC's world scenery though we need to adjust locations of some ground objects.
Wishing your archived skins and airfiles will be released near future.
Thanks!
Yuki
