[Released] Korean War "Chodo 1952" Scenery

This is obviously a product of superfluous amount of research, work and creativity! You have my sincere congratulations Mark!

I simply had to try flying the Milviz F-86 in and out of there. Yes, it can be done. This is the TP version with just the guns loaded and 50% of fuel. By holding the breaks on engine spool up and full flaps, one can jump off at the end of the runway, just miss the high ground and trees and then flatten out to avoid stalling, raise gear, increase speed and raise flaps:

Mark,
Thank you for this outstanding scenery. Being a lifetime M.A.S.H. fan and having spent 3 1/2 years in Korea, I'm really enjoying this. Thanks again!
Cheers

The Old MSgt

I flew around the whole island in the dusk and made a rough video. Please excuse the silly notifications that I had forgotten to turn off in P3D. The landing is also rough but proves it is possible.

Again, Mark, amazing work!

I tried some touch and go in the field, but i found it a little too short for F9F´s (The plane i tried). This plane and the f86 really used this base in the real thing that time? (Just asking for information purpose)

One more:

Just wish to add that I get extremely fluid performance in P3D v3.2 with high settings.:encouragement:

Also, having been to Korea for work, I have to say that the landclass used for the island outside the photoreal parts gives a very authentic look.

Fantastic scenery, superb flying and great video! :ernaehrung004:

@Flaviossa:

There's no record known to me that F-86 or other jets ever used that airfield, even in an emergency. They ditched near the island and were picked up by the rescue helos.
Prop driven aircraft like the C-47 did though, and the helicopters of the rescue unit of course!

By the way.
If you fly towards the north over the islands off the North Korean coast, and follow the Yalu river (Mig Alley) you'll know why the rescue unit was stationed on Ch'odo.

Nice video, Dimus!

Cheers,
Mark

Fantastic scenery and well done job.

Just a look from FSX

Klaus..

Is that with default FSX or do you have FTX and the other couple of bits mentioned in the readme? I downloaded it this afternoon but after reading it may have problems if FTX wasn't installed.. I stopped there.

It's no problem at all without FTX, the landclass just looks different! The other bits mentioned also only might affect the look in a way which was not intended. The scenery is still functional with or without these bits. You can install the scenery and sort things out later, if necessary.

Maybe I should change the wording in the readme.

Cheers,
Mark

Cheers Mark. I know I don't have to change some things because I already have your Solomons installed. I'll drop it in and see what I can get away with:encouragement:

A Little Action

The S-5 Helicopter takes off from the LST on Cho-Do to rescue a downed pilot. Great scenery.

You'll be fine, Dave :)

It's not bad at all Mark:encouragement: Topographically.. I'm probably not seeing it as you do but with the exception of a set of floating trees near the base (which are only noticeable very close to).. it all sits very nicely:ernaehrung004:

Do you use FreemeshX http://ninetwopro.com/ ?
The scenery and the absolute height used on many objects or polys is based on that terrain model.

Hiya Mark:wavey:

No.. I didn't use that which is why I'm surprised the scenery looks as good as it does. I took a look but was worried that it may have an impact on my UK GenX scenery plus.. at 42Gb, it would take me a hell of a long time to download on my coal-powered broadband (5mb at best). If specific areas can be downloaded.. that would be a more attractive option but I didn't notice that on their site.
The base itself works well without the modified terrain. The only thing that needs looking at (for me) are the shorelines. They're defined (smoothly cut and without angles) but there are no beaches as such.
