Some of my favorite jet aircraft...what are yours?

Those are fantastic! What you need is for someone to create a native FSX version via MCX of those are freeware, and assign the materials to blend the environment by the inverse of the diffuse alpha. And also assign some placeholder specular and bump maps. This would allow some awesome bare metal to be done using the lighting engine instead of painting on the reflectuons permanently. Would make your paints look even better. A lot more work but well worth it.

I'm playing with doing my own bare metal right now using the CalClassic C-46 (another old favorite) to experiment with. As for bump maps and specular, I've been fiddling with those a little in my Gee Bee Z doings. Heck, I finally started getting my head around the layers thing a few months ago (since these were done) and have made up my own paint kit for it. It only took me almost 16 years to figure that out! lol

The Hawker Hunter is arguably the jet-powered stablemate of the Supermarine Spitfire regarding design aesthetics.

It is also the most incredible sound-generator, as anyone who has seen/heard a high speed run will attest.

A short list of mine plus favorite civilian birds like Lionhearts Epic Victory and FSD's Cirrus.

A party i just could'nt miss, a couple from me, Flying stations Bucc and Bear Mig, i have both 15 and 17, the Hunter would be in there also but many have beaten me to it :wavey:

Nothing fancy, just took some quick shots to get my short list in:

IRIS F-16D. . . .This is the tail No. I flew

Worked on the T-33 while at Perrin AFB in the late 60's

I would also add the F-4 Phantom, which I worked on for 5 years at Carswell AFB

Always been keen on the early Vampires, they remind me of square rigger MG roadsters.

The F-86 is another favourite, very resonant of the times.

Thanks Gman. Your work really is art! That scenery is seriously fantastic. We're all going to be thanking you once it's finished. Now...just tell me you're going
To try your hand at the PNW everett area... ;)

Heh heh...that would be a real Paine...:untroubled:

That would be a long, long list from me.....

Aerosoft F-14, F-16 and Lightning, Lotus L-39, Iris Warthog, M2M F-15E, Bear Studios J-10 and the Flankers, Just Flight Canberra and Tornado, Restauravia Mirage III, Razbam Harrier, Dino Goshawk and F-35, Virtavia Skyhawk; those are usually the first ones I install first when reinstalling FsX. Might have missed a few though.. ;-)

As you most likely already exected I hardly fly jets in FSX. When I fly them it is most often to explore scenery in a bit higher pace.

I absolutely love the look of Dino's models and I think his F-14 is a real master piece, but somehow these modern jets are not really the thing for me.

The Restauravia Mirage III and Dave Garwood's Hunter are often used, but the ones below are are the most common ones.

Tim "Piglet" Conrad's T-33

Tim "Piglet" Conrad's F-5

Flight Replica's Me262 (FS9 model)

Cheers,
Huub
