AI Traffic for Mark`s scenery Korean War Chodo 1952

US Airforce is in the air..... just flying in formations.

2 x F-86 (looking for Mig`s)

4 x B-29 (heading for a little visit in Antung...)

Not to long till i will be ready

And then managed to land at Chodo, just passing the crashed buddy and with room to spare:

Klaus, I tried installing the package in P3D 3.2 but it seems it did not like the MAIW objects. So, I recompiled your airports for P3D in ADE without the objects, just to get the AI working. I was happy that it worked! I now have juicy targets for the TP enabled Milviz F-86!

Thank you so much for this!

Hello Klaus,

First, a big thanks - this is a lovely project.

A quick question around timings of the fleet(s) and AI. When do you have approximate times for the Task Force fleet? Also, timings around the AI B-29, F-86, MiG-15.

Finally, a question around AI density - what % thresholds should we set to?

I've been able to spot the fleet once mid morning, but not the AI, except at the Antung base itself, parked.

thanks,

dl

Just had a thrilling flight in the Mig alley. Got a kill:
Though I understand that finding - spotting MiG AI traffic may present
a challenge and be interesting, I prefer this (video back to November 2015) :

I've downloaded Klaus work (thank's for this) for the ships & the MiG Airbase.
It's a more detailed AirBase (compared to the 8 Airbases that BGX Korea was adding).
:very_drunk:

I had requested from Mark back then, the Chodo island scenery, since it's used in BGX Korea. as an
emergency runway for refueling & repairing if hits & damage was taken during the sortie.
In video, after MiG hits, F-86's engine is on fire - but none effect works in my P3D v3.2 that made me
revert back to FSX.

Somehow the US bases - "UOOO" and "UOO1" after the install both ended up east of the Korean pennisula and in the middle of the ocean. ?? Mig bases and AI are working fine. I have Orbx FTX global but doubt that is the issue.

First .....nice shot down of the Mig. Don`t kill to many of those Mig`s.... let some for all the other pilots. :jump:

This scenery and the ai traffic is just made for FSX. Can`t test it in P3D because i`ve got only FSX on my computer.

Best time to find the Mig`s in air is between 08.00 - 10.00 and 15.00 - 18.00 GMT. But all the other times there are Mig`s in the air too.

The bases U000 and U001 are not for your landings. They are just to get the US traffic in air. The are just in the sea and about 4 meter deep under water. All is correct if you find them like this. AI traffic just can fly a strait line between two points. So i must do this bases to get the US traffic passing the Mig Aley from west to east.

All fleets (group 1, 2 and 3) have a turnaround time of 8 hour`s. Starting at 0.00 GMT. Then they drive their line and back to start at 8.00 GMT. Then next start.

Greetings
Klaus

Klaus, I take back what I said about the scenery not working in P3D. It was an issue of running as administrator in my newly installed Windows 10. The scenery and AI work fine in P3D v3.2 with all objects showing.

@xpelekis, BGX is a fine piece of work. It is just that this is free flight and I prefer it this way. Of course the targets are not firing back and fly straight and level but as you said, looking for them is fun. It is also fun to fire at them when parked or taxiing at their bases with bombs and rockets. I will also try and find those B29s for escort, or the F-86s to fly formation with.

Nice to hear that it is working in P3D. Fine.

I`m just working on a little update. There will be more Mig`s in air all over the time. US air traffic will also be more.

And..... (testing it just in this moment.... it seams to work..) helicopter traffic on US side. First there are helikopters that are beside the carrier groups and with some modification on Mark`s Chodo airport there is AI helicopter traffic from Chodo to a place in North Korea where a F-86 was shut down.

Pictures are just the stand in this moment. Not ready at all.

Normaly ai traffic doesn`t work on sloopy runways as Mark did with chodo. But he did a little trick... just a short part is just a flat runway. I had to do a new afcad for this part. Not long enough to start ai airplanes... but helicopters work fine as you can see on the pictures.

Place where the F-86 comes down somewere in North Korea. Heli for rescue on ground is ai-traffic coming from Chodo

Chodo airbase..... helicopter just going to start.

Trough the next days i will work further on this update. I think this will be a nice thing to "play" with.

Just some new pictures from the working on update. Second place where a DC-3 is shot down. Fire has broken out and you have to look to get the crew out there ...... bevor North Korean troops will arrive to capture them....

Found the place of crash
heli4.jpg

There you can see the crashed plane.... is the crew ok ?
heli5.jpg

They are ok..... hurry up... we must leave this place

leaving the crash ground....heading for Chodo

And two more... helicopter traffic going with destroyer near Chodo and another helicopter belonging to carrier group 1. Both patroling the fleet.

This is too awesome for words.

Thanks Klaus - yours and RW's work on this really plugs a lacking hole in an exciting piece of military aviation history. For accuracy (if we're talking about the '50 - '53 Korean War period), though, the H-34 is about a decade too early. The H-19 saw some use, and there's an AI model somewhere (I think it was the plane guard for the 1960 Flying Stations Victorious carrier). Anyway, no complaints here - I love this period of history, and this scenery and attendant AI really brings it all to life.

The Panther, Skyraider, and Corsairs are getting dusted off and ready for some action.

cheers,

dl

Yes you are absolutly right and i know this.... but i`ve got a little problem. There are not so much freeware helicopter models flyable as ai-traffic for fsx. Most of them are from Vietnam time period and later (Seaking, Lynx, Black Hawk...). So i took the only one i know thats flyable as ai that "looks like it could be" in this time period. Bag my pardon for this. Till know i havn`t found another good model to use.

the other Model i use is the Sikorsky S-51 but this is not a ai-plane ... it is "just" a ai boot. it doesn`t work over land. I only can use it to "fly" beside the fleets.

I will have a look into the victorius file you talk about. If there is an H-19 inside thats flyable as ai-plane... i will use this. But i think it is the same as the S-51. it is a "flying" ai-boat. you can only use it over water (it needs an absolut flat ground) and it follows the line just in one high you can define.

Hello,

Interesting scenery, is it possible to download it somewhere? Long time ago I did this short vid from this period also:

Of course, Klaus - you're right - this is what happens when I'm away from FS for so long... :banghead: Those models to which I referred are indeed nothing more than AI Boats floating along at a given height ASL, and not flying AI, in the sense you and I know.

I'm the first to have been very much against using flyable models as AI, but I'm wondering if Greg Pepper's H03-S1/H-5 model (the one without the VC) might work? It has a .mdl that's only 500Kb in size, albeit with no multi-LOD - might be worth a try. http://www.fsxaddons.com/addons/detail/fsx-sikorsky-s-51-h-5-ho3s-1-dragonfly-update/938/

I recall from my FS2004 days that there was a "STOL" air file out there for slow-moving prop planes that could roughly approximate AI helo flying. I recall it being how I'd launch and recover AI A-1s off the fixed carriers in the old days of FS (hey, expat and co, remember that?) I believe hovercontrol also has some AI helo flight dynamics that could possibly be adapted - not sure.

Anyway - thanks again for this great package and to Mark for the scenery - it's my favourite new haunt in FSX, now.
