Curtiss Hawk P-6E

I'd like to ask. Is there by chance an updated or ported over version of the Curtiss Hawk P-6E for FSX/P3D users here in the outhouse, and available for download. Maybe Milton or others here has done one of these planes?.

I haven't seen one yet in the war birds library or any current topics or threads mentioning the Curtiss Hawk P-6E. Maybe I might need to add this plane to my wish list for FSX/P3D etc.

After a quick walkaround, it is rough. . .very basic VC, needs a new FSX prop blur and the fuselage has the look of something carved out of a block of wood. With a lot of texture work both inside and out it could probably be usable (strictly my opinion here). It does, however, have a pretty good sound file.

Here's a video of the same aircraft. I think this has some added extras to it, but it's the same airplane.

Definitely more to this one in the video. The original link downloads to approx. 8meg. The link to the one in the video is almost 28meg. It would be up to you to use or not the "improvements" he made. Personally I could do without the constant trail of black smoke. . .that's a bit much really. Also, while the flames are an interesting addition, watching them it seems too random. . .I may be wrong but I would think the flames would be less vibrant and fire off all cylinders rather than just a few in a random pattern as he has them. . .could be completely wrong though.

I think all these models are based on Bill Lyons AI Curtiss Hawk from the Golden Hawaii package. There is a version available at Flightsim.com as well. Just search on file name p6e.zip or at the name from David Burgess, who did the upload.

Cheers,
Huub

P-6E

That's what I thought. I saw the P-6E at flightsim.com. I tried it out in my FSX. It is very basic, so to speak, and It does or still needs a lot of work, to be useful. I deleted it, after I tried it out.

Maybe some day. Milton could do one of these in the future, with his magic with planes for FSX/P3D.

Thanks for the reply's.

George,

You are too kind Sir.

I have not built any Curtis aircraft to-date.

I am trying to get the turboprop Mallard out the door now and the A-20 Havoc is well in progress.
I have no plans after that project as I am contemplating retirement from this level of project work.

Might want to hit up Golden Age Simulation. They might do a model since they are into this period type aircraft.

Thanks for your feedback Milton.

I have quite a few of your planes in my FSX, and the work you put into them is awesome, and always has been, in my opinion. The hours you put into them is superb. I'm sure you will be missed, if you do retire, from your level of work with all sorts of planes.

TuFun.

I have some of the Golden Age Simulation planes in my FSX. I'll have another look at what they have available. I don't recall them doing the Curtiss P-6E. I haven't been on there site lately to see what's new for FSX, and or close to the P-6E etc.

Again, limited skills here, but I've been working on improving the Hawk as much as I can. There are some oddities in the fuselage modeling that make for some problems with straight lines and the interior is mapped to the exterior, so very little can be done to the interior. Still, it's fun to fly and once you get past the rough hewn model, it's not a bad flyer, lol.

I did this video of the Hawks 4 years ago, but I couldn't find the repaints I did for #40 and #44 seen in the video. Very sharp paint job falcon!
