AI Traffic for Mark`s scenery Korean War Chodo 1952

but I'm wondering if Greg Pepper's H03-S1/H-5 model (the one without the VC) might work? It has a .mdl that's only 500Kb in size, albeit with no multi-LOD - might be worth a try. http://www.fsxaddons.com/addons/detail/fsx-sikorsky-s-51-h-5-ho3s-1-dragonfly-update/938/

Anyway - thanks again for this great package and to Mark for the scenery - it's my favourite new haunt in FSX, now.

Didn`t know this one, but i will try it. Thanks. I`ve got the H-51 with VC... its from 2009. This one seams to be later. Perhaps it will work.

Your AI Traffic and WWII Scenery's

Hello Klaus.

I've been looking at downloading your AI traffic packs and WWII scenery's. Note. I am still an FSX user. I have not gone to P3D as of yet etc.

I'm not very savvy, installing what you have available related to WWII?.

My concern is. I am a user of ALL the ORBX products for my FSX, including there Global and Vector and most of the ORBX airfields and there freeware airfields in all the ORBX regions. I usually stay away from freeware addon scenery's, because I'm not savvy, and not sure what I'd be doing trying to install your WWII freeware goodies. This is because I have all the ORBX products installed in my FSX. I sure don't want to have issues with my ORBX addons, installing your AI and scenery goodies.

The only third party freeware addons I have installed in my FSX are the OZx and RTMM freeware's. All my RTMM addons are above my ORBX entry's in my FSX library etc.

I'll probably need a lot of assistance installing all the WWII goodies you have.

I'll be looking forward to installing your goodies, once I know what I'm doing during the install process. Maybe your readme's with your freeware's, will have an install process for those that have the ORBX addons installed etc.

Thanks for reading.

George

Installed this above Orbx Global and Vector and activated in the usual way. Airbases at least near Mig Alley all look fine. Take the plunge.

Chodo

Expat.

I downloaded the Korean War Chodo 1952 Scenery. I'm getting ready to install it.

I also downloaded the Chodo AI Traffic.zip. I put it in a temp folder. This file is the traffic file itself. The AI planes/boats and carriers and air fields are not in this download?. So I'm looking for these etc.

Hi George,

first install Korean War Chodo 1952 Scenery from Mark as it is written in his readme. Activate it in FSX.

Then download the Chodo AI traffic. Unzip it to a temporay folder of your choice.

After you have done this, there will be 4 folders and 3 jpg in your temporary folder.

First is "FSX Addon Scenery" In there is "Codo AI Traffic 1952" and there in is "2 Folders "scenery and texture. The easy way : put this to Marks Chodo 1952 Scenery.

Second there is a folder called : "FSX Sim Objekts Your AI Air Traffic". In there are three folders with B29, F86 and Mig. These three folders go to your AI-Plane folder. If you got no one put them to your C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes.

Third there is a folder called :"FSX SimObjects Boats" In there are the ships. This goes to your C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Boats

The picture folder is just to look at..... nothing else to do with it.

The picture Chodo AI 1952.jpg will show a google earth picture with all the zone of plane and carrier groups. So you can find them in FSX.

Last thing to do : rund FSX..... and have fun.

Greetings
Klaus

Chodo

Klaus.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm curious as to why I'd have to install and activate the Korean War Chodo 1952 scenery in my FSX, before I download the Chodo AI Traffic zip to add the planes/boats/carriers etc.?. I'd think I'd be able to download both chodo scenery and traffic zips before installation of either.

Maybe I downloaded the wrong Chodo Traffic zip when I tried it yesterday.

Could you provide me here with the direct link to the Chodo Traffic.zip file, so I know I'm downloading the correct Chodo traffic zip file.

George,

Klaus not only has AI traffic in his creation, but also scenery (airfields, etc) that reference some of the objects I made for Chodo. That's the reason why you need Chodo 1952. If you don't install the latter you won't see the objects and the sim produces internal errors because of the missing stuff.
When you install it, you should make sure that Klaus's scenery sits on top of Chodo 1952 in the FSX scenery database. The other way, as Klaus mentioned, would be to put all the files of his \scenery\ and \texture\ folders in to the respective Chodo 1952 folders, which has some drawbacks though.

Further, in the scenery database, all custom addon sceneries generally should be located above any FTX Global / Base entries as well as custom mesh (e.g. FreemeshX).

Hello Mark.

I just installed and activated Klaus's Korean War Chodo 1952 scenery V1.1 into my FSX. It is at the top of my FSX library. Notation. I did have my ORBX FTX Central set to Global Mode with hybrid mode enabled, when I installed the Chodo 1952 Scenery etc.

As Klaus mentioned. Now I need to download the Chodo AI Traffic.zip when I find it. Is this correct?.

In your reply Mark. You mention (When you install it, you should make sure that Klaus's scenery sits on top of Chodo 1952 in the FSX scenery database)?. Am I missing something else, other than having to download Klaus's Chodo AI Traffic.zip etc?.

The Chodo 1952 scenery.zip I downloaded and installed has the following. chodo-1952 scenery folder, chodo-1952-effects folder, two jpegs and readme-chodo1952 etc.

George

George,

Any add-on scenery that you may add to your collection should always sit on top of FTX Global in your scenery library.
Being that you already had FTX Global installed before you added Mark's scenery it will automatically be on top. Now
when you add Klaus's scenery it will be on top of Mark's. Remember this though.. if you make any changes to FTX
through the FTX Central it will rewrite the cfg and it will now be on top, so you will need to move those scenery's back
to the top.

Before you add Klaus's scenery make sure that Mark's scenery shows up right in FSX. If you read the read-me file with
Mark's scenery there is a terrain.cfg edit that needs to be done so the shorelines show properly in sim.
Once that is done you can add Klaus's scenery to the library.

Klaus's Chodo scenery zip is the download I'm not finding??. If it is referred to as Chodo AI Traffic 1952.zip This one is only an AI Traffic file. when I download it. Maybe some one can provide me here with the zip file I need that will have all the planes/boats/carriers and Klaus's scenery etc to be extracted to a temp folder, so I can proceed with the rest of the install.

Yes. When I click your link. The file is the first entry. It is 60.0MB. When I download it. All I get is a file called Chodo_AI_Traffic.tgz. Something strange is going on. I'm not sure what and why etc.

I'm going to try the download again from another computer. Standby.

Chodo

I tried the same download from another computer. I get the same result. I clicked on the file looked at the file properties. The type file I'm getting is is called a 7Z file. The size of the file is 61,528 KB I'm just not getting the zipped up folder, when I download it.
I've never had an issue like this before, downloading anything from the outhouse downloads etc.

George

George,

The 7Z file is a zip file made using 7Zip. You will need to install this program from here: http://www.7-zip.org/ to open it.
Another compression utility that will open these files is winRAR. (I use this one)
Once you have installed either of these programs, go back to the folder you d/led the file to. Double click on the file, a new
window will open, click on the folder with left mouse button and hold, now drag the file either to your desktop or a temp folder.
Once the file is decompressed open the folder and there should be 4 folders and 3 jpg's. Klaus did not add a readme so this is
what you will need to do to install.

1st folder: FSX Addon Scenery. open this folder and there will be another folder (Codo AI Traffic 1952) add this folder to your FSX/Addon/Scenery folder.

2nd folder: FSX Sim Objekts Your AI Air Traffic. Inside this folder is the AI aircraft. If you have a dedicated AI folder you
can place them there, if not you can put them into FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes folder. (it is better to have a dedicated AI folder)

3rd folder: FSX SimObjects Boats. there are 6 folders, place these into your FSX\SimObjects\Boats folder.

The 4th folder is just screenshots, you can keep or delete up to you. (same with the 3 jpg's)

Hope this helps

Joe

Till now i haven`t found a way to start AI-traffic from moving ai boats. So i startet some little experiments. I have convertet the essex class carrier to a static model (bgl) and placed it near korea. Then made an airport afcad "on" the carrier deck, so ai planes (F9F and A-1J) can start and land on this "airport". Seams to work fine. If all test will be good... you will see us-navy aircraft in the Mig Aley and you can follow them back to the carrier and you also can start and land there with your planes.

Essex (static) with ai planes (F-9F) on deck

Just a little step forword for the update.....

It works ....

Take off from static carrier .... AI airplane F-9F Phanter leaving the carrier deck ...just in the air
chodoAI3.jpg

Now i will do the flight planes for more off those traffic.

That's cool, Klaus.

A throwback to many years ago, before we had moving carriers, in FS9.

The trick I recall using was both a heavily modified .air that had really strong spoiler effect for the landing "arrest", as well as an invisible runway length that extended aft of the carrier fantail by a couple dozen yards. So the plane's touch down could roughly occur on the wires area. Was tricky getting them to taxi along the runway and not conflict with traffic on the runway - I could never get more than 3 AI to work, each at different times, so they were more like static. Didn't work so well on angled deck carriers, but Korean era might work better.

I gave up once FSX came along, and far prefer moving carriers with no AI than somewhat AI populated carriers, having to set massive headwinds to simulate forward speed and wind over deck, etc. But that's just my opinion. Expat, I believe, kept at the whole static carrier AI thing for longer than I did - he might have better tips.

Still, if you do this addon, I'll enjoy it as giving some "ambience" to operating in the area, even if I'm in an AI carrier group a few dozen miles away. So eager to see what you do with this, for sure.

Has anyone here tried to generate AI traffic from a carrier with the CPP tool from FSX@war yet? See http://www.fsxwar.com/#download
I didn't use it so far in regards to carriers, but I use it to generate land and air traffic found it to be working really well.

Cheers,
Mark

I wonder if it could be used to generate Japanese patrols and air traffic out of the Solomon bases? possibly US strikes to form up on?

Since most of the airfields are geo-referenced, air traffic should be possible.
Naval traffic is also accurately (close to the islands) possible, since I traced all the islands in Google Earth, which is also used by CCP for plotting the tracks.

I would love to work more with CCP, which is a great tool in my eyes, but I dedicate most of my spare time to designing sceneries :banghead:

Cheers,
Mark
