Strange looking B17 released by Allen!

A lot of Air crews had the forward section of the aircraft modified. If you google B-17F images, which is where I found the above photo, you'll see that some gun installations done in the field by the ground crews through the plexi.

Okay.......

....I stand corrected. Looked a little further and found this... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/100th_Air_Refueling_Wing#World_War_II
It seems that the 100th BG was outfitted with the "F" model. I based my assumption, in the previous post, on the picture alone and the info. on the citied link. I did have the complete breakdown somewhere on the differences in the models. Trying to reorganize and rebuild my setup after my previous HDD gave up the ghost.

Another strange b-17

Speaking of strange B-17s... Did you know there was an experimental version fitted with V-1710 V12 engines?

It's called the XB-38.

I already had the model. Just moving wings around. Based on this Photoshop pic. The PS-ed B-17 has the same emblem as Boeing Field has on its runways Pacifica from Crimson Skies.

The subject of the beginning of this post is a B-17F. Most were field modified to carry 1 or 2 .50 cal. guns in the nose as the Germans had figured out that that was a weak spot defensively. Late production F's and all G's had chin turrets making a late production F almost indistinguishable from a G. The plexiglass nose on the G was cut back a little for barrel clearance.

Interestingly, in Boeing nomenclature all B-17E's through B-17G's were Model 299 O.

Reply...

Could swear the FDG2 forts were Multi-LOD, could be mistaken though. Have found the files, including the interior source for a latter model. Even if it was player only, it would be nice to have.

Jamie

Jamie,

They are. :very_drunk:

Have just checked the CFS2 FDG2 Forts and all versions have 6-LODs, the FS9 versions may or may not? The LODs seem very decent at that.

The models I have sources for are B-17D exterior and an interior for unknown later model.

Jamie.

I know, lol.:very_drunk:

That virtual cockpit of the b-17 looks nice.

About done with it. Need to see about adding some Oxy tanks behind the seats and find Hydraulic Pressure gauges. What I need is 2 Hydraulic Pressure gauges. One gauges will have Eng 1 and Eng 2 and the other will have Eng 3 and Eng 4. None of the MAPE gauges seem to have any Hydraulic Pressure.
