I did a very good job of damaging one of your skins!
I kind of got into a really nasty furball with some kamikaze escorts.......:pop4:

Tried to land her back on HMS Indomitable, but ended up with a wave off and climbed to bail out altitude and hit the silk in the middle of the fleet and lived to fight another day.

Dave,
The interesting thing was, I could fly that iron works kitten back to the ship and if I had wanted to be real world, could probably have landed her.
She wanted to turn to port and I had to keep my stick semi-hard to starboard to keep her straight.
I had no rudder though. I had main gear and starboard flaps.
No tail wheel, though I did have a working tail hook.
She was extremely sluggish on starboard turns and skids, so I had a big disadvantage coming around for a landing.
My first and only attempt I cut the port turn too short and had no way to correct to starboard easily without a rudder or port flaps.
All things considered, FDG did a super job of building that Hellcat F6F5 (Mk II).

I suspect both USN and RN pilots landed aircraft in that shape instead of bailing out and losing the aircraft parts which could be salvaged.
