FR Canadair North Star WIP Update

mike_cyul

SOH-CM-2025
It's taken a while, but the North Star and Argonaut are finally nearing completion. There's been a lot to research on the military version, and it's been a real education into 1950's flying!

Here are some of the most up-to-date screenshots of the military model (plus one of the BOAC Argonaut, just so you don't forget they're coming too, as well as the Trans Canada Air Lines model). VC shots are in FSX, and the exterior from P3D 3.4, as testing and modelling move along.

Very impressive - I presume this will only be a North Star and Argonaut is a DC-4 (P&W engined) version planned at all?

Would love a QANTAS and Ansett-ANA DC-4. Or a paint kit to make them happen.

AussieMan paints for all those your after are available for the JBK DC-4. I have all the Qantas, Ansett and TAA colour schemes done or reworked from older non FSX paints and have redone the JBK VC to be a replica of the Qantas DC-4 about 1970 (with working weather radar). This coming version of the Argonaut and then hopefully DC-4 looks great and while the JBK is good it is dated and very difficult to do anything worthwhile with. I am really looking forward to this new model and then I guess it will be time to park the venerable JBK version.

I do not wish to detract from this post and the news of this but I am happy to make another post for some pics of all the above if your interested in the meantime. Besides if this a Flight Replica work then it will be to their usual outstanding level and it certainly looks like it.

Tonque in cheek will the Argonaut be as noisy in the sim as the real thing was? which led to a lot of passenger complaints about it. LOL

Royal Canadian air force livery is awesome!! And I look forward to Trans Canada airline livery! Thank you for all your kind hard work volunteering in creating this freeware add on.

Regards,

Aharon

The DC-4/C-54 is parked on the ramp for now, and no further work is being done until the North Star is out. There are far too many differences in the VC to make them together, it's almost like making a completely new aircraft, but it has been a nice distraction from time to time to do some work on the exterior model (still more to do there, too)!

@AussieMan: Duly noted :) . A little early to be figuring too much out paint-scheme wise, as there certainly are a wide range of companies who operated the DC-4 (to put it mildly), and you can bet that if a favourite airline isn't in the package, there will be a paintkit.

@ Aharon: It will be payware, I'm afraid. Unless I win the lottery between now and them. :)

No problem, Mike Good luck to you in completion of your payware NorthStar and I hope you sell a lot of it.

Regards,

Aharon

North Star- I'm in.!!

..as soon as this beauty hits the sales desk, my money will 'be-in'..! ...the screen-shots take me right back to the early days at RCAF Downsview, Ont. and the sight and sound of 'props'. It's a winner!
