Speaking of the Ruptured Duck...

Wip...

...a couple of shots of the new B-25C/D with the Bendix remote ventral turret extended and retracted. The EXIT command will toggle this feature. :kilroy:

To save some PMs....

It'll probably be another week or two before this one is ready to be thrown to the wolves, so to speak.

- Animations almost done, except the landing gear.

- Still have to tweak the texture mapping.

- AIR, CFG and DP also need major tweaking/testing.

If I weren't such a lazy so-and-so, I'd rip the whole thing out this afternoon and move on to another project...NOT, SOOOOOOO NOT. :caked:

Moving....

...right along on the WIP B-25C/D (exactly the same aircraft...just the location of the plant was different). Finally got all the animations done. :jump:

I was going to go through the agony of doing breaking parts, but I'm rethinking that right now....particularly since each and every part of the aircraft has to be tagged individually for this to happen....a real PITA.:weightlifter: Still mulling it over. :isadizzy:

The truth is I think we overdo this breaking stuff a bit too. I really hate to see an aircraft coming apart...particularly after a 3-second burst from a bunch of shotgunned .303s Very few non-Japanese aircraft (even fewer large aircraft) broke-up in mid-air with catastrophic structural failure when they were shot down. The vast majority went down losing a few small pieces of debris, a little smoke and fire, or no sign of external damage at all. :faint:

That seems so...

Just a thought, but concorde nose commands might be better options for inflight deployment...:gossip:

....modern. The B-25 will have no functional EXITs, so this won't represent a problem....other than possibly psychologically. And I doubt this feature will be much used. I had to use the spoiler key for the BB doors.

Sopwith....

...has provided me with a really nice set of generic mapping textures, one OD and one Desert, for use on the original aircraft. I am trying to keep the mapping simple to facilitate repaints from the talented skin corps.

Though this is a fairly complicated aircraft, framerates are right up there so far. I'm hoping to avoid dumping some features to keep frames up.

It bugs the hell outa me to see an aircraft do totally normal maneuvers with only one wing intact :kilroy:...

Me too....

It bugs the hell outa me to see an aircraft do totally normal maneuvers with only one wing intact :kilroy:...

...but it's just because someone failed to write the DP properly. Unfortunately, that happens all too often when folks just throw a handy DP into a new aircraft without much attention to testing. :wiggle:

I suspect most of us have been guilty at one time or another. :faint:

I came to...

...a compromise in the recently posted Bf110. She has breakable wings and tail parts, however, the damage boxes have enough points to make sure you need some serious 20mm, or very, very serious .50 cal to trigger the effects. In fact, I think it was Maxi, someone asked me why I had not made the tail parts breakable. Little did he know that they are, but the the boxes are not that easy to hit, and a couple of hits will not do enough damage. :typing:

WIP Status....

We've reached the 'Tweaking Everything' stage:

- texture details/small parts
- AIR, CFG and DP

Got about another 4-5 days to go....unless my schedule changes....and a bit longer, if I go Breakable (It takes an individual tag entry on each and every single little part to make any of them breakable, and that can get to be a pain when you have 200 parts). :engel016:

Damn! A Bear!

This is a complex little airplane, but she's sweet.

Moving on now to LOD, otherwise she will be a frame hog, and I suppose I'll have to make her breakable....but she won't be a pushover.

Geez TR.. after you finish this you should keep going and move this into FSX... we need an early model bad there.:wavey:

:engel016: TR

That is one really fine looking piece of work. I mean it. I can't tell you how long I've wanted to be able to say bye bye to the MS B-25 ... and there's just something about the early '25's" that I like better than the later versions with the turret moved forward. Maybe it's because I still remember my Revell B-25 kit from the early 50's .....:faint:

You folks...

...are way too kind. :wiggle:

Just doing a quick test on a potential desert skin. :wavey:

I heard that the gunner on the remote turret has mastered his system, clumsy as it may be, and can shoot the sphincter out of a hummingbird at 500 yards. :gossip:

You're probably tired...

...of these daily updates, but I am enthused:

- Basic Texture done, but I'm driving Sopwith crazy
- DP done
- CFG done
- AIR done
- weps done (DB's bombs & my AI Bombs, plus a torpedo)

Working on the addition of:

- 5 LOD models to tame her FPS and still allow her to be a detailed model up close.
- some breaking parts.....someone save me from typing cramps from tagging all these parts.
- A VC...but not a DVC

You'll even have a rear gunsight! :engel016:
