Are ya cutting back yet ?

Hi all,
Not had a choice in cutting back.With my wife being made redundant we lost 50% of our income.
Cannot give up the internet though as a lot of jobs in the UK only allow application via the internet.Especially government related ones.

Buddha, that's what I meant by internet service should be considered a utility like the phone is.
 
I'm actually contemplating increasing my expenditures - of lottery tickets!
 
To watch the stock markets around the world keep dropping makes me sick. Peoples retirements are affected and we are taking a huge hit on our 401k. The NTSX has lost 5000 points this year alone and it is still dropping each day. Large employers are starting to make huge cut backs and are also starting to lay off large amounts of employees.:isadizzy: America is stressed out!
 
Nothing we need to cut back here, decided long ago what we 'needed' as opposed to what we 'wanted'.
Oddly enough our banking system is well based to withstand the worst effects of the present crisis.
And as long as my lovely wife continues to practice medicine the finances are nice and steady.

BTW: 'Cutting out smoking' is dead simple, you must want to do so and stop altogether, none of that cutting down to 5 per day or 2 per day rubbish.
Just plain cold turkey.
Easy for me to say ....... I stopped smoking in 1962!

Yes - correct. Either you are or are not a smoker. You just have to make that choice for yourself.
 
Pretty much same with any other addiction. Just make up your mind that you're not going to do it anymore. And it'll take a while for your body to loose the physical cravings. But as long as your mind is made up, the body will eventual follow.

It just boils down to how bad do you want to quit.
 
Not cutting back at all. Got my eye on a big-screen TV and have the money in the bank.

Being in Canada I haven't really seen anything to suggest that cutting back is needed. I am holding off until after our election next week, but given the apparent outcome I'll then continue as normal.

I do feel for all of you that reside in places where the economy is not so strong. I remember what the last couple of major downturns in Canada were like, it can really rip the guts out.

Quit smoking cold turkey on 18 August 2006, 4:30 PM. Had my heart attack at 4:35 PM that day. It scared the living you know what out of me.:banghead::banghead:

I don't understand this. Anybody that invested in the stock market should have fully understood there was RISK. If they didn't want the risk (IE: possible high gain), they should have put their money in a saving account.

My stocks are down but I made the decision a year ago to ride out the coming storm. This is not the time the bail out. Let's just hope it doesn't last 15 yrs!
 
Not cutting back either.We put the boat in about 3 weeks ago for a refit and electronics.Also doing some remodeling of the house.

whats a depression? These symptoms sound like a normal life in my small world :costumes: the poor are still poor, i see no change. seems the rich will still be content, you middle-classers need to pick a side haha. I dont mean to offend, all I'm saying is we'll pull through. we can be a tough crowd in more ways than one...

I discovered very quickly that it was easier to knock off smoking than wheeze my way through a 25 mile Forced March carrying 70+ pounds of kit each time our insrtuctors decided to give us a special 'treat' ......... :d

Moe, what are you paying for gas down there in the "Old Dominion"? We are down to $2.67 a gallon up here!
