How to remove....

The lock brackets. I still want to be able to lock on them, but I dont want those yellow brackets around the enemy aircraft. How do I remove them?:help:

If you program the keys:

Select next target = Tab
Select previous target = ` (tilde, ...above tab key)
Unlock Target = SHIFT + Tab

Do NOT use "Toggle Padlock Mode"

Hit "Tab" to select and cycle.
Hit "`" to cycle back.
Hit "SHIFT+Tab" to turn it off.

Change radar mode to switch from Air/Ground/Sea targets.

Works slick.

But it only works if there is another target present. What about if it is the last one? How do you remove it completely? E.g. erase it?

If you use the "select next target", ..."unlock target" removes them.

If you use "Toggle Padlock Mode", ...you're screwed...

...the progie's won't remove it. (so don't use it, ...use "select next target" instead.)

true, but then you unlock from that aircraft. I want to erase the yellow brackets, but still lock onto the aircraft. Example: I hit the ~ key or the Tab key and it locks onto the aircraft but does not show the yellow brackets. Thats what I want. I want to erase the Yellow brackets pic, I think its in the TEXTURE folder but I can't find it.

I was waiting for others to tell ya first, but this little bitty is hard coded into one of the dll modules of the sim. I forget which one, but i found it and its color coding by hexing the dll about a year ago. Tried editing the dll and got errors when loading the sim. Its an unstoppable item, so we have to live with it. I do see the purpose. Although you can lock and shoot without brackets, its extremely useful in attacking ground targets, especially at dusk, dawn and in night action where the time of day affects your ability to see well or night interceptions where you can't see an aerial target at all except for the brackets. But they should have given us the option of disabling it without attempting to hack anything.

there was the option to remove them in CFS1 - or simply not turn them on - they took that option out in CFS2?

The other option is never to use them. Once use in a mission you will have to live with it.

We all suspect that you've used them too master...everybody does at one time or another. But thanks for sharing, we'll take that under advisement...;)

...Guess they figured CFS2 customers would be too inept to fight without them by choice, so they stapled the brackets to our collective foreheads...

Following Dirtman's footsteps....

BC, you're just fantastic! :costumes: :costumes: :costumes: :costumes: :costumes:
