As Dave said, the last few tasks are being scratched off the to-do list.
  • We are now tweaking the final texture set for the VC in the F-4B and F-4N as shown in the pictures below. MilViz's DX10 lighting system is also coming along nicely (those with non-DX10 cards will still get cockpit lighting but using the default FSX key assignment that is currently in place)
  • The new payload manager shown above is also getting un-TacPacked for those that don't own TP
  • Flight model is undergoing tweaking for high-AoA manouevering
  • A squadron of F-8s will soon land on Coral Sea to serve as static aircraft
  • We are getting there at last!

Here are a couple of the F-4N cockpits' screenshots as well as some details from carrier life:

On the 13th of February the F-4B will be in beta for one full year and we don't intend to keep it much longer in that state. We are making good progress towards v1.0 and the final tasks are being scratched out of the list.
-The F-4B and N cockpits are complete and all that remains is tweaking of some textures to get them finished.
-The exterior model is also getting its finishing touches. Drag chute is being added again, new burner flames are being worked on and bugs found in the closed beta are being squashed.
-The entire model will be finished in a few days.
The two last tasks remaining for the plane itself are fixing the Altitude Hold mode and writing the wiki which will contain the manuals and checklists.
Finally, Coral Sea is getting ready for deployment. The carrier configurator is being worked on as you are reading these lines. The configurator will allow you to show and hide static aircraft on the deck as well as move the elevators and hangar doors of the ship.

Right now, the carrier has on it (1965 deployment) the following squadron compositions:
-2x14 A-4 skyhawks
-1x12 F-4B
-1x14 F-8D Crusader
-1x2 RF-8A recon Crusaders
-1x14 A-1 Skyraiders
-1x1 E-1 Tracer (the other one is flying)
We intend to finish the carrier 100% in the coming week. We're missing an SH-2 model and the LSO platform.
USS Midway -which will launch separately after v1.0- will benefit from the above as well.
So, in short, v1.0 is turning to final!

We've had two important breakthroughs this week, which will can cut the time to v1.0 in half! One of them is about the autopilot, which I will not comment on until it's done. The other one about the carrier!

We have managed to create a significant feature promised some months ago, that allows you to show/hide static aircraft using an "ouija board" in the sim. It is the best we can do with CVA-43 based on what FSX/P3D can take and we think it is a good starting point for "future projects". Unfortunately, some sailors were "immobilized" to allow for the airwing to appear, but all the crew in the significant parts of the ship still moves.

Feel free to share any suggestions and ideas!

The carrier manager doesn't have anything to do with TP. You will also be able to use it with any 3rd party aircraft, as long as you copy & paste some stuff into the desired plane.
