Tanker afire in Takao Harbor

"title_string"=Essex_GB-Takao Port Strike_1A3
"summary_string"=Zeus: You and your flight will take of, form up and fly to RP TANGO - 100 miles on a 285 heading. From TANGO you will proceed west on a 270 heading at 200 kts, ahead of the main strike group, to the harbor at Taikao and attack Japanese shipping (Nichei Maru) there with bombs and rockets. Then, you will join Neptune and Aries in providing high cover for the bombers. The harbor is too narrow for torpedo attacks, so our Avengers will be carrying bombs and rockets. Good luck and good hunting.
"objective_string"=We have returned to Formosa. Our mission is to do as much damage to the Japanese shipping at Taikao as possible. The harbor there is teeming with enemy ships and craft of all sizes and we must disrupt their assembly and deployment.
"intelligence_string"=Intel and photo recon show a large convoy is assembling at Taikao, Formosa (study the recon/target photos). Only a few escorts are presently located in the harbor so the FLAK from ships should be light. You can anticipate moderate FLAK from the AA guns ashore. Expect low, scattered cloud cover and winds at 10-12 knots from 016 degrees.
"player_aircraft_name_string"=FDG2 F6F-5 Hellcat VF-12

USS_Essex_CV-9_Campaign-Revised 2017.zip

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Campaigns Add-Ons

Description: This campaign is a mostly historical commentary of the World War 2 exploits of the USS Essex. The US and Japanese task force compositions, ship names, dates, and most locations are as accurate as possible.

In this campaign, the USN is on the offensive. Out of all the actions in which she participated, I chose a good, representative sampling of the major engagements of this great ship from her first action until near the end of the war in the Pacific. She later served in the Korean conflict, Bay of Pigs incident and Cuban Missile Crisis and even supported the early Apollo missions, being decommissioned in 1969.

Thank you guys. As I said several pages ago, you can fly the 50 mission campaign or any of the 162 individual missions of your choice. The supporting documentation included will help to give you some idea of what the missions contain. :wavey:

Also: The downloads list is rather long - mostly new ships, but it makes the "eye candy" really nice. It's worth it. I have included all the alternate .dps that you will need, recon photos and installation instructions. The documentation is in MS Word and Adobe PDF.

Thanks Shadow Wolf. I am really looking forward to getting this D/L. Not right away but soon.
Thanks for all the hard work.
You mission, A/C. and skin designers are AMAZING!:applause:

Thanks

Hi Shadow Wolf
Thank you for all your efforts on this massive campaign. :applause::applause::applause:
It is a huge effort!!!
Your work is truly appreciated.
I have just opened the zip file and am looking forward to flying it in the near future.
Cheers
Stuart

Thank you Stuart277: Your and Maxstuka's ships look and perform magnificently. I appreciate your comments and I'm waiting on the Muse to inspire me for another project. This one was long, but I cheated and used the missions from my old Essex campaign as a guide to update and improve these. Still, it was a task. I started at the end of January and just now finished.

Thanks again...

Flying it again:

Mission 1 - Marcus Is. My wingmen did a great job. I took some FLAK and got the heck out of there before any losses. :redfire:

Captain Kurt

2-D cockpit view = E018a
2-D cockpit view after hitting F7 = E075a
HUD View (after hitting F3) = E076a

I had 1 gauge show up in 75a after hitting F7

I generally fly in HUD view, so it's no biggie.

Well, I think it's a biggie. I am perplexed you can't get it straightened out, but whatever. :banghead:

Attached here is a patch that does not use the overlaid panel bitmap, but rather puts the gauges directly on top of the panel image, which is the default CFS2 method. This should at least let you see the gauges. :biggrin-new:
