Nimitz-class aircraft carriers

This is very nice!

Since you are working with deck statics (great work with the C-2), is it possible to provide an 80's configuration that has A-6's, A-7's, F-14's and S-3's as well as the E-2 (in place of all of the Hornets). That may be well beyond the scope of this, but a nice to have.
Thanks and great work!

sorry, not in this model, I have already modified a nimitz in the version of the 80 with a-6, f-14, ea-6 in its deck

Awesome. Very good idea to use an excellent piece of work (Nimitz) to create carrier variations...
I love the animated crew ! Nice touch.
Is it because of this the FPS drop that I notice in the video ?

+1 for the 80's version...

Great news on the options, can you move the AI helo to the right or "starboard" side? +1000 to have F-14s on deck!

I try to keep the model as light as possible, for that reason i do not add too many static airplanes, when I did the video had on my other screen a movie, possibly because of that low the fps a little

AICarriers

Where do you find AICarriers at? I did a search on my computer and it des not exist. I am running windows 7 and FSX. Thanks for any help on this.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY THE README FOR INSTALLATION OF GAUGES,

This thing crashed my P3D V3.4 I can load any other AI ship/carrier but this one. The name of the ship shows on AI carriers menu then when I select the distance no response, it just freezes.
I know that I have installed this AI carriers ship in same manner as the many other ones before it.

I looked at the event viewer and saw this:
Faulting application name: Prepar3D.exe, version: 3.4.22.19868, time stamp: 0x588f7cbf
Faulting module name: sim1.dll, version: 3.4.22.19868, time stamp: 0x588f7cbf
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x00092715
Faulting process id: 0x3ec
Faulting application start time: 0x01d341caac0804ea
Faulting application path: P:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\Prepar3D.exe
Faulting module path: P:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\sim1.dll

Don't know if this has any bearing on the issue but the event time is same as when I was trying to load this ship.

Some flying carrier issues

Tried to put the wheels on this wagon having one issues after another getting this thing to run in P3D V3.4 and noted some things of interest.
This thing may work just dandy in FSX but for P3D V3.4 users I can attest to some issues that I tried to fix.

When I looked at the models folders and opened it, it contained:
[models]
//normal=CVN_74 -fianlcon2dxt <<<don't know what the fianlcon2dxt is all about but it caused my P3D V3.4 to freeze up.
normal=CVN_74_p3d.mdl >>> I tried this mdl and the ship floated in the air, at least I could see it when I selected it.

The flying carrier - again.
Capture.jpg

So I used modelConverterX and it created a MDL file called: CVN_70
I edited the model cfg folder thusly:

[models]
normal=CVN_70

And it stoped flying - Yes the ID number on the carrier remained 74 - I landed on the FD and checked.
So now another barrel of "FUN" - The wake also rises. I suspect I can fix the issues with the rising wake and correct that:
Capture1.jpg

The solution is
"open the effects fx_wake_s, fx_wake_ss, and fx_wake_l with notepad and check if they contain the parameter:

TempK=107.00
TempRate=0.01

or

TempK=109.00
TempRate=0.01

both will provoke that wakes rise to the sky and they are not a part of a normal fsx wake effect.
You can edit them out with notepad, or if you have a back-up overwirte them with the original wake effects.

At least I'm gonna try that again.

Some concerns (Red circles) with the roundish wake effect from the stern. This was an issue with the USS New York if memory serves.
The config flight deck works well in P3D (V3.4) A lot of people milling about on the FD. Maybe they are doing FOD walkdown :biggrin-new:

thanks for the update, i includes 2 mdls because in fsx presents a failure in some occasions the elevator, as for the effects, could be the smoke of the catapult on the deck, I did not have problems, I worry if it is something generalized I can edit and remove those effects on deck, maybe it's better that it only includes p3d versions in the future, the name CVN_74 -fianlcon2dxt is from a test i forgot change because i try to test the model in p3d v2 after in p3d v3 and FSX

I tried both MDL's as you had them in the folder and both times the ship would float in the air. I had to remove the -fianlcon2dxt and was able to at least see a flying ship :adoration:
When that happen to me in P3D (from experience) I've always found the solution is to run it thru the ModelConveterX program and let it do its thing. Somehow, it managed
to correct the floating ship(s).

Once I got all the wheels put back on, I could see and fly to the carrier.
I would appreciate if you could remove the round exhaust effects (red circles in picture ^) like you done before with the New York.
Thanks :encouragement:

Ready, i remove that effects, there is no error, tested in fsx, p3d V2, p3d V2.5 and p3d V3 without any issue

No apologies necessary! Most (if not all) of us will gladly accept the work you are doing here. Did i miss where the Nimitz (80's) file is? Or is it not available yet?

I see you are working on a modified Oriskany (and now it appears Hancock as well) in addition to a Kitty Hawk through other threads. Fantastic, and many thanks for your considerable effort on all of these projects. I for one am looking foward to all of them.
Kind regards,

After the reissue of the Stennis I think the stern section looks much better. I had to convert the CVN_74_sprayfree.mdl so that it would not fly (again) No more little round exhaust vents from the stern section.

I used my own wake as the ones supplied would go vertical and when I tried to edit them they didn't look quite to me.

I used wake = fx_wake_xl in the sim.cfg. Thanks CIMOGT. :encouragement:
