Flight Replicas Douglas DC-4/C-54/Carvair Released

Found it...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJGY6ao-V9E

If you look at 1:12, you'll see the water splash from the initial impact between the mine and the water hit the tail of the aircraft... It was a classic that happened to aircraft during the development of the real upkeep mine, as well.

My interest was in whether the aircraft was returned to flight after the incident? I presume it was?

Edit: That video - which appears only a tiny bit edited from the original programme - says that the aircraft was "mercifully undamaged" but I understood that they did actually find later that the HStab was, in fact, damaged by the impact.

Cheers,

Ian P.

Just watched this episode of Ice Pilots NWT last week, I don't recall them saying anything about the aircraft being damaged. However, the footage of the recreation that was shot with Buffalo and Arnie was used in multiple documentaries, some contain more footage and information than others. According to wikipedia, Dambusters: Building the Bouncing Bomb, Dambusters Fly Again and an episode of NOVA called Bombing Hitlers Dams all use that same footage. So while it might not have been mentioned in Ice Pilots, it may have in one of the other documentaries.

Jan, I've put a specific paint kit for the pod on the website for you:
Mike
I'd better use it then!
How's this?

nearly there..

I know the numbers on the nose are a little further back than what they should be, however there is some texture wrapping in the upper part of the first number, so there has been some compromise, next one is the USMC scheme

Awesome! Great work again!

Besides this chocolate bomber, theres another one of these(different serial with a slightly different scheme) and a R5D version to come

A little WIP shot

sorry this one slipped by me, very very nice

its good to see so many schemes surfacing for Mike's hard work, they way Jankees is going all of Canada's DC4s will completed by Sunday, I really want him to do the MATS scheme as I dont have the patience to trace the decals

Beautiful!
Here's my next project, still WiP:
....
Do these paints work with the non-tanker version? Or is the tank perhaps removable, similar to something like Carenado's C185? I don't own this aircraft yet, but these upcoming paints are tempting me... :applause:

Start working on this one - inspired by the DC-6's of Securite Civile ....... One Question for Mike - may i ask where on the fuselage-paint the upper antenas are located ?
