Joaquin Phoenix flips out.

During on of many insomnia episodes last night I watched "Letterman" for a while. An unrecognizable Phoenix has apparently decided to give movies a miss and have a go at being a pop musician. He was really weirded out during the show.

I saw the out takes of that last night on O'Riley ... that guy is a waste of time.

Am not surprised Joachin is having problems. His family has had its share of them too. His brother, River, died from a heroin overdose.

When I was stationed at NAS Pensacola, a Senior Chief who lived next to me in the barracks, had known River fairly well, and how tragic it was that he'd gotten involved with drugs.

River was a very gifted young actor. He was a natural in the movie "Stand By Me." Drugs cut him short. For sure he would have picked up an Oscar or two if he lived, and not messed with the evil stuff.

As I watched the interview running up to an ad break, he made some little throw away comment about the audience being "on something", kind of like they were off there heads. He was supposed to continue the interview after the ad break but on return there was a new guest on.

He did seem largely "detached" from the surroundings during the entire spot. Letterman tried as best as he could to ground him, but couldn't seem to anchor him.

Dave Letterman. What a jerk. He is from my hometown of Indianapolis. Years ago, I worked as a chauffeur in Indy, and drove Letterman for a NBC special for Doc Severinsen. Letterman is a class "A" jack....s. Always knew that, but can say for certain, after driving him around. Aside from NOT being funny, he is a sarcastic, mean-spirited bozo.

Gee, ya think maybe I don't like the guy?

Er, nope.

C'mon, Chief, tell us how you REALLY feel.....:icon_lol:

I don't watch him that much...just got this snippet on the news...tends to grate on me.

I sort of lost interest in shows like that after Carson retired. No one comes even close to the talent and class that Johnny had. Nobody. To me at least, Leno isn't funny at all. It's as if they are trying too hard. That, or their writers suck. Letterman is a mean-spirited bast...d. Sorry. I turn the channel very quick, if he comes on.

I think Dave was being really tough on him...especially the long intentional pauses. I agree that Leno isn't funny at all. I do like Conan though.

my mind goes back to another letterman show, when they had crispin glover on there, and he was trippin his butt off.
