Free upgrade to default CRJ

No worries! Got me thinking about catching up to 4.2. Going to 4.1 went easily. It's just updating addons like GTN 750 and Orbx scenery (laziness on my part and also Murphy's law is only why I hesitate). Strange though that an older FSX native model works in all 64 bit P3D versions but something for 4.2 is not backward compatible even to (64 bit) 4.1??

I regularly use the default FSX CRJ-700 in P3D 4.2. I did not have to do any updates to it, just copied it from the FSX SimObjects/Airplanes folder to the corresponding folder in P3D and it works, in fact I have done this with all the FSX aircraft that were not in P3D including the A321, B738, B744, C172, C208, G21 and a few more.

And actually I did not add them to the main SimObjects\Airplanes folder but there own folder that I added to the simobjects.cfg file. All of them work fine.

Yes, 95% of my flyable and 100% of my AI are FSX native models in P3D4. What is weird is that a model made specifically for P3Dv 4.2 is not backward compatible with 4.1 and presumably also 4.0 (i.e., all are 64 bit).

From what I have gathered from the Aerosoft threads about their Airbus project it is because up to v4.1 there was a hard limit of clickable zones in the VC. Since v4.2 that limit has been abolished. That is why Aerosoft's new Airbus will only be v4.2+ compatible. Guess that will happen with all future aircraft projects, sooner or later.
Maybe that new VC of the CRJ AI has too many click zones for v4.1?

Edit: here is the post about the click zones: http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php...preview-part-5/&do=findComment&comment=867179
