New Computer, new problem...

Now, I have a HP All-in-one 200 with a really big monitor. I change the resolution at CFS2.cfg, but the CFS2 menu, now, appears only in a small part of the screen. It works, but is aesthetically an abomination. When I print the screen, it appears only the good old menu image...

Cheers

Pepe

PS: Now i'm using Win7 64 bits instead of win7 32 bits

Howdy Pepe,

Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing and a more detailed rundown on your new PC’s specs?

System and image

Memory 4.00 GB
Intel(R) G45/43 Express Chipset
Resolution 1920 x 1080 X 32

Wondering if this is monitor problem. Most menus of CFS2 are 800x600. (MB is 1024x768) and it looks like the monitor failed to change resolutions or is programmed to not change resolutions and if runs into something below 1920x1080 put it in the top left and leave the rest of the screen alone.

What monitor is it? Also try windowed mode.

Need to start with the PC Specs

Yo Pepe;

Good to see you - it's been along time Brother! :wavey:

Ya can't fix nuthin' 'til yar knows what yaz B werkin' wit....

3 Questions - answers are required:

Have you tried removing & reinstalling CFS2 ?
- or are you running an older CFS2 installation from an external harddrive?

Is the PC on-line and fully updated from Microsoft?

Does the PC operate & display properly when not running CFS2?
- have you tried running another sim or game?

I'm thinking maybe video card driver problem.
Try updating your vid card driver from either nVidia or Radeon.

I installed a new copy AND copy all other installs from the hard drive. Same result!

Is the PC on-line and fully updated from Microsoft?

YEHP! It's the best CFS2 cockpit I ever had!

- have you tried running another sim or game?

Untill now, no!

Thank you!

Round 2

Thank You Pepe;

The info below is to help you (and other members) have a better understanding of their PC's inner workings and help them learn to diagnose their problems.

(give a man a fish / teach a man to fish? LOL)

- ALWAYS accurately identify the make & model of the PC and get the specs from the manufacturer

In PC diagnostics there are 3 basic types of problems:
1) Hardware
2) Software
3) PEBKAC

1) Your PC has an "on-board" GPU (not a separate, removable card)- It has an Integrated Intel GMA X4500 HD graphics chip
- uses up to 378 MB of system RAM
- your monitor display is
1920 x 1080

2a) The video drivers are automatically installed via Microsoft Update (when or if; updated drivers are released by Intel.)
- this applies to Win7 even though it is "out of MS support". (includes WinXP too)

2b) You said: "I change the resolution at CFS2.cfg,"

Try changing back to 800x600 and recheck

Restart CFS2 after making screen resolution changes ..... sometimes a PC reboot is needed on "elderly" units.

My 1st CFS2 PC had a 866MHz P3 with 256 MB RAM & 35 MB "on-board" video
Would run CFS1 & 2 ... but not enough "video ponies" to boot CFS3
CFS2 took 4+ minutes to load

Now I use an AMD FX-8370, 8 core @ 4 GHz, 16 GB RAM, GTX 750Ti with 2 GB GDDR5
CFS2 loads in 7 seconds flat. WOW!!
Still running Win 7 Ultimate x64

Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5400 @ 2.70 GHz
Memory 4.00 GB
Intel(R) G45/43 Express Chipset
Resolution 1920 x 1080 X 32

Hi Pepe,

you didn't mention the bleeding colours coming down from the cfs2 window in your original post, and so I assume that we are only seeing them 'cause your camera has recorded that? You don't actually see that yourself?

If you do see it, I've never seen anything like that before, I suspect a video driver issue.

If you don't see that and your issue is just that cfs2 appears in the top left corner, forgive me if I'm stating what you already know, but do you realise that if you left-click and hold the top of the cfs2 window you can now move it to anywhere you like on the screen?

cheers,

SW

Sorry, just to expand on that - on my PC the opening cfs2 window is also just taking up part of the screen, has done ever since win7 and possibly before, I can't remember.

Anyway I just moved the cfs2 opening window to the centre of the screen (it reappears in the same place each time you restart cfs2) and live with that. I run the flights in windowed mode, and then they do take up the whole screen (except for the window border and task bar).

Hope that helps,

SW
