How do I operate the autopilot?

I never managed to operate the autopilot
someone knows if it is possible and with what keys or how to do it

Hi Max,

You have to look in the .air file to make sure it's turned on first.

I use three separate key assignments for the autopilot - one for turning it on/off, one for altitude hold and one for heading hold.

The key combinations I use are Ctrl M, Ctrl A and Ctrl H.

I use a seperate program called "ZoneAid" which still works in Win 10. All you have to do is guide it to your Aircraft folder, select the plane/planes you want the AP in and execute It places a moveable on/off, alt hold, heading hold, speed hold, moused gauge on your panel.

If ZoneAid is not available here, I can upload this freeware utility if you all wish. ZoneAid Version 2.0 by Zigggy (AKA Hells Angel 13™)

kevin, what is the default keys in cfs2 for autopilot?,I do not like the idea of changing the keys.I like to use the stock but I do not know how play the autopilot.

The stocks models have autopilot, for example the a6m2 zero?.

Maxstuka,

There are no default autopilot keys for CFS2.
BTW, I checked AirEd and the default A6M2 Zero has autopilot turned on: (1) on the line instead of (0).
So you should be able to assign keys like Kevin suggested.

Once you start CFS2, go into settings, then into key assignments, then on the screen keep it on "all key assignments" at the top.
Drop down to the scroll bar and scroll down to the various autopilot key assignments.
There you can assign whatever keys you desire, as long as they are not used by another command.

Kevin's look good and perhaps we could all follow his lead.

That really sums it up Max. Don't hesitate to create new assignments. After all there are no set in concrete assignments for CFS2 - you have a choice of either CFS1/FS assignments (which I use) or the unique CFS2 ones.

someone can indicate, how are the commands to run autopilot for A6M2 ZERO

I test some, and no found.I like to have the aircraft in horizontal line for long periods.

I test autopilots vertical speed hold, and wing levelers hold, nothing is running.

You need to assigns key strokes for the autopilot master switch on/off. Once the autopilot is turned on you will be able to use the various commands. When you turn the AP off you will get a series of audible beeps.

The key strokes you assign will be the same for all aircraft, not just the Zero.

Here's a shot of the ZoneAid autopilot. It is very simple, you just climb to the altitude on the heading you want, then switch AP on. It will beep and then turn on the alt hold and heading hold. The indicator lights for each will switch from red to green, I you want to change hdg or alt,, you must first turn the AP off, make your adjustments and turn it back on. Real simple;

Highlight the autopilot on/off line.
Then below, where you see my pointer cursor, click change assignment.
Then press Ctrl M and hit OK.

That will give you a switch to turn on/off autopilot.

Do the same for the other autopilot commands.
