AI formation flying in P3D

Hey guys and gals,

is it possible to set up a flight with me as leader and a couple of AI wingmen? I used to do that with FSRecorder, but it does not work with the current P3D versions anymore. The Simdirector seems broken, so I can't set up anything with that either. This is really unfortunate, also for other reasons.
So far my other efforts run into dead ends.

Any thoughts or experiences?

Cheers,
Mark

Hehe. In the recent past :biggrin-new: :

I have this Lorbi software, tested in... v4 long time ago. It works well but I was afraid to use it I suppose, I had a feeling that it influences for Chaseplane (I have a feeling that there were some bugs if you use both softwares together but Im not sure this for 100%).

This is the new tool like FSRecorder (not for free) https://secure.simmarket.com/fabio-merlo-flightcontrolreplay-professional-edition-fsx-p3d.phtml + support for MSFS too.

Thanks for the reply, Yoyo. Formationsetup does not run opn my system due to a x86 problem. I guess I have to bite the bullet and go for payware!

I was thinking about this (tested by me in v4, check video):
https://secure.simmarket.com/lorby-si-aitracker-x-fsx-p3d.phtml (FSX ACCELERATION,FSX SE, P3D V1, V2, V3, V4, V5).

I'd also like to fly with a wingman. One of the problems, however, was that the AI was shaking terribly (in P3Dv4, I didnt try it in v5).

I bought Flight Control Replay now, but you only can set up a formation when you first fly the mission solo, record it and let it replay. Only then you can add up to two planes to have the formation. That was not what I was looking for.

Man, I miss FSrecorder. You were able to spawn wingmen during normal flight. I think you even could swap planes during the flight.

Bummer!

Pity, I didnt know it, perhaps you can return this. This Lorbi software has unlimited option for additional planes (it works as camera drone) but pls read manual firstly before to buy. :very_drunk:

Oh well. In the worst case I have to buy another product to really know. I must say that Flight Control Replay can generate stutter free videos, because it renders the frames not in real time. So that's a benefit on its own if you care about that...

Good news, I was thinking to buy it too, maybe in the future. :wavey:

I've had FlightControlReplay for a few years now. It has it's quirks. But nothing compares to the ease and smoothness that was FSRecorder in my opinion. FCR, in order to do formation flights you, as mentioned have to fly the flight yourself first and then record another flight following the previous recording. One bad thing too is, that you have to open a separate FCR recorder for EACH recording you want to fly with and you have to manually sync them and start them. So if you're flying in a formation of 4 aircraft you have to manually set up and sync 3 other aircraft in 3 other FCR windows to your main recording in the 4th. It takes a TON of time to do and is more of a headache than it was worth, at least to me. It doesn't do it automatically or in one utility like FSRecorder used to. It's a pain in the rear, which is pretty much why I stopped using P3D for any kind of military formation stuff like I used to in FSX. One thing I will say about FCR is that it records helicopters rather flawlessly. Unlike FSRecorder did. FCR I use as a much better replay tool than the horrendous one in the sim itself.
