Multiplayer connection problems

Many thanks! :)

@AcWai, attached are screenshots of what I see. In my modem/router setup, all that's there is an option to enable or disable the NAT state. The second screenshot is of the Control Panel showing (limited) information about my connection.

Please search in Youtube "how to set up NAT forwarding with your router". There are a lot of videos on how to do it. All the videos show how to open a new menu to install the virtual servers. Can you ask your friends to see if they can set up NAT forwarding?

My old router is a TPLINK Archer C50. I am now using direct Ethernet connection in my house. I hope either you or your friends can set up multiplayer mode. I would like to play on-line with multiplayer.

AcWai, I found the following information in one of the videos:

"TP-Link routers refer to a port forward as a virtual server which might be confusing."

In other words, port forwarding on a TP-Link router uses the term "virtual server" in the router setup. This would be the same thing as opening ports, and then having them routed via NAT forwarding (which they are on mine and my buddies routers).

Attached is a screenshot of mine. NAT Forwarding routes my local LAN IP (192.168.0.15) to my ISP IP, and the "port forwarding" opens the ports to be routed/forwarded to my local LAN IP. BTW, some of those ports in the screenshot are for other games. One that I need to add (that I used to have in there) was for DOSBox... me and my buddies used to play the old DOS WarCraft II under DOSBox via the internet with me hosting the game (and DOSBox needed specific ports open in order to connect across the internet for playing old DOS games).

In other words, long story short, we're talking about the same thing. NAT Forwarding (in my case, "NAT Enabled") + "Virtual Server" (in my case, "Port Forwarding").

P.S. If me and my buddies can finally get this damned thing running again (like we actually DID a year ago), you're more than welcome to come on in and get shot down <BIG_GRIN> :)

It looks like that you need to turn on port 2300-2400 (remote defined to yes?)

change port 6073 to UDP and turn on (remote defined to yes?)

turn on port 47624 (remote defined to yes?)

I am not too sure what really goes thru the TCP and UDP ports. Those were the settings that my friends used to get CFS2 working in Multiplayer mode.

Perform step 3 with the information from step 1.

Perform step 4 to allow CFS2 to access through the firewall, then reboot.

The "Remote Defined No" simply means that "All IP Addresses" was selected when creating the port forwarding rule. This is the default in my router setup when creating a new port forwarding rule.

We are always on Team Speak-3 so please call in to talk when we are flying,----- our IP's are posted in the CFS-3 Forum, below the stickies.

BTW, we also use a private TeamSpeak server during our multiplayer games (not just CFS2, but anytime that me and my buddies are killing each other/shooting each other down LOL!). We used to use the built-in voice chat of Steam (as we also play a lot of Steam games), but it was always a problematic PITA, so we switched over to TeamSpeak for our voice communication (even for the Steam games).

Anyhow, I added a bookmark in TeamSpeak to y'alls Sim Outhouse channel. I don't play CFS3, but maybe I'll see you there sometime :) I really wish that I could get CFS2 MP up and running again... doesn't make ANY DAMNED SENSE AT ALL that it used to work without out a hitch a year ago, for MANY years leading up to that, and then over the course of the past year, BAM! Nothing :(

I have this information on NAV forwarding:

https://www.speedguide.net/port.php?port=2400

It lists all the ports needed for Flight Simulator 2000. The needed ports are identical to the values used in my Word document. I hope you can get it up and running soon! I am hoping that there are people in this forum that would like to join in combat.

I am looking forward to flying on-line again. Getting shot down is part of the fun. I remembered years ago when the Microsoft website was still up, I joined a session hosted by someone from Tucson (my hometown). Everyone were shot down by two people flying in formation. The next day, I realized that they may be actual A-10 pilots. Tucson is home to one of the A-10 airbase in US. I did learn some maneuvers from watching them.

Yes, there are the same for FS2000 (as well as FS2002 and FS2004).

Same here, would be LOTS of fun! :)
