This campaign is based closely upon the history of the 67th Fighter Squadron flying P-400s and P-39s at Henderson field during the epic siege of Guadalcanal. Henderson was code named "Cactus", hence the campaign name.

Originally it was intended to simply update the 87 Days of Cactus mission set from 2001 by Carl Gulde with the most current versions of CFS2 aircraft and ships. However, it soon became apparent that in the last 21 years our understanding of CFS2 and the availability of many development tools and techniques unavailable in 2001 made the original missions obsolete. The development team decided that we would create a new historical campaign instead.

We did all we could with CFS2 to make it immersive, including new G2K ground scenery for the Guadalcanal theater, new local airfields as they were in 1942, new spawning bomb craters, ground and cloud textures, effects, the latest ships by Stuart277, Usio etc, the latest aircraft models available, correct period aircraft skins, etc.

The campaign is auto-loading and is complete with everything required - no additional downloading necessary.

Hi Captain Kurt ,

I did as all the instructions in the "read me" said and I installed a complete new CFS2 on my "C" drive and all went well.

All my other CFS2 installs are on my "J" drive .

I loaded her up . Looks great !!!! Flew a couple of Missions . Also Great!!

The new Screens are also very impressive!!!

Then I tried to fly a Campaign .

No pilots listed so I thought I would add some of my own. No Go.

So I uninstalled and re-installed. Same again.

I love everything you've done the scenery,the aircraft the whole lot.

I'm starting to wonder if I've got Kraft disease or that I am complete D..khead.

PS. Even if there is no fix. I'll keep using it just for the missions
 
I'm traveling and won't return until April 6th. I can check into it then, but offhand I think the problem may be that the nationality is the American USAAF, not the Marines which is what automatically comes up when you select the campaign window. You need to scroll down and select the USAAF nationality to fly the campaign. If it's not that, I will have to troubleshoot when I return.

The likely culprit for this is you do not have the expanded country.cfg file. The campaign uses the USAAC country listing, which is No. 7, rather than the US Navy, which is No. 3 on the list you need this file to expand your country.cfg: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=17&id=17924

You could easily replace the duplicate layer of excludes with the DEM 7 layer if you wanted to.

Past that:

I'm trying to locate the cause of poor frame rate @ Henderson.
Can't t-o or land.
FR @ 5 or below.

Have LOD5,7 & 8 installed too.

Been working on this with Rami & Shadow Wolf (on Skype) this morning - no joy.
It appears to be caused by the Henderson scenery anytime it is within view.

Sitting on the runway forward view has less than 5 f/r
Look left it's 25 f/r, right is 30 & rear is 45.

Away from Henderson (air start on USAAF mis. 1) 300-500 frames

AMD FX-8370 8 core @ 4GHZ
16GB DDR3 1600 RAM
GTX 750-TI 2GB GDDR5
Win7 x64 Ultimate
- I really don't think this is a "hardware" issue.

Getting 40-60 frames over MR's SI Henderson on a different install - same settings w/ LOD5 only.
(both on C)

Have excluded different parts of the Hend. scenery - still no joy.

Is anyone having or has had this problem?
I could appreciate some new ideas.
