As John Cleese would say, "And now for something completely different!"

Or...

As Marcia Griffiths would say, "It's electric!"

It has counter-rotating props, it has a fully customized G3000 panel, it has multiple variants (including cargo), but what it doesn't have is one single fuel tank.

It also has some very interesting flight dynamics. When you pull the single power lever back to idle in the air, the windmilling props turn the electric motors into generators, so you have regenerative aerobraking.

Jonathan Beckett:

Pro tip... Skip to 39 minutes into Mr. Beckett's video, but don't blame me for ruined monitors!

And yeah, I'll be getting this one!

Very interesting. Usually not into the business and tubeliners, but some of the working details on this one intrigue me.

That's already going on, isn't it, and i can't say i like it very much (not to say "i hates it"...:barf:)

Edit: i haste to say a couple weeks ago i traded my Porsche Cayenne for a BMW i3s (for the uninitiated: it is completely electric) and i am madly in love with it.

I'm certainly not a fan of the fridge and the microwave being in the same room as the toilet . . .

Looks interesting, though. I'll probably end up getting this just for the novelty.

I bought it and did a flight from Cancun to Key West. That distance really pushed the range of the batteries, but you can "refuel" in the air by cheating - just tap the Settings option at the bottom of the tablet home page and add more juice. There are a few things that the dev needs to address, but they're minor. For what you get, I would have rather paid ~$15 instead of the $21.25US, but I'm not going to cry over this transaction. The biggest thing is the fact that even though the plane uses counter-rotating props, both props have the same pitch angle. Once that's fixed, between the quality that's already there, the uniqueness of the plane, and the completely immature hilarity of the pantry functions, this will be a plane worth what I paid.

I mean really - what other plane in MSFS includes a belching sound effect!?!? :ROFLMAO:

Did you ever DL the Auster J1 for FSX by Dave Garwood? If you opened the door in flight a very angry voice screamed "Shut that bloody door!" at you!

DangerousDave26 (yes our Dave) added a button to the cell phone gauge he made for the LDR Navion B that said something to the effect of 'Do Not Press' and if you did it set off smoke and flames, destroyed the engine and added enough drag to make you fall out of the sky! When I asked him why he said "Because I could!":LOL::LOL::LOL:

OK, so maybe it's my sense of humour... BUT... When he said "You can empty the cans", complete with the sounds of drinking and burping, I thought, I wonder if you can then fill the can!... It would be another first in flightsim if you heard the can (toilet) being filled! Maybe "As real as it gets" must now have limits. LOL.

Hehe, great ! I think i remember ! ;-) Loved that little Auster !

I did a series of adapted crashsounds for FS9 (or FSX, can't remember). One of 'em had Oliver Hardy say his famous catchphrase after you crashed : "Well, here's another nice mess you've gotten me into !.."

I seem to remember that on the LDR C119 Boxcar (that was never publicly released unfortunately despite being 99% done) Roman (my much missed code guru :engel016:) added some code that would generate massive amounts of drag if someone opened the rear clam-shell doors in flight. The drag was so massive that the airplane would slow to a stop within seconds and then fall tail first out of the sky! :gameoff:

Actually, the meal boxes and soda cans in the pantry can both be distributed. Click the box once and hear the belch and the box vanishes. Click the can once and it opens, click it again and it's gone. (Or is it three clicks - can't remember...) Once the cabin is cleaned up, go back to the pantry/lav and open the drawer under the sink to find everything in the litter bins!

It's actually quite tempting, but the Tornado or Hercules might be the next purchase for me.

why do all things electric have to be ugly nowadays.
Not quite everything. All my scale, and non-scale radio-controlled aircraft and vehicles are now electric powered, and they look totally correct.

However, you are mostly correct about modern design full scale stuff. And, to my eyes, it's not just the electrics, most modern automobiles are ugly.

Personally, I like the design. I'm so tired of the the stale tube/wings/hair-dryers formula that the sky is filled with. This one is a refreshing change.

Agreed. I wouldn't call it an aesthetically 'beautiful' design, nor would I call it 'ugly'. It's just different, but not in an overtly objectionable way.

Cape Air signed a LOI for 75 Alices back in 2022. Based on their current route network, that's lots of short-haul routes to be flown in FS!

I wonder how electric aircraft would work in a virtual airline situation where you are trying to figure out profit. Normally you can read from the sim you used so many kg/lbs/gallons/liters of fuel at cost X and calculate profit, but with this where there is no weight change for the batteries not sure how that would work.
