Scenery object limitations in CFS2

I don't know if this has been discussed before, but has anyone encountered any type of error regarding too many objects in one install? Two of my installs keep giving me a "Quick Combat Failed" continuously and would not load any scenery. I found out that I had too many objects in both installs( In the Objects dp File only.) The number of objects in the scenedb inf folder are all under 1000.
The number of objects exceeded 1700. I went through and reduced both to below 1500 and everything loaded fine. I thought that the object limit would be higher than that . I have read that some add-on scenery had as many as 2000 objects. Any input on this would be appreciated. Thanks.
 
The object limitations are soft caps. I believe it has to with how much memory the objects take up. So on paper you could have more objects if they are simple while if you have complex objects you will hit the cap with less total objects.
 
Your hardware & OS also influences this. I have installs that will run on one PC, but the exact same install will give the "Quick Combat failed" error on another.

I think a cull of the Objects_DP file often needs twinning with weapon/DP optimisation task as well.

eg Just how many different US 500lb bombs are called for by your aircraft DPs? Choose a set & change the aircraft DPs to call for them.
Do you really need Italian weapons in a PTO install?
Are you going to need the CFS1 Objects?

Etc, etc

Culling the Objects DP file is a good idea and I have done that on a number of my installs. Checking out the weapon/DP situation I haven't tried yet but I will certainly will. Still don't know what the object number limit is. I just took a guess. Thanks. As for the PC, my OS is Win8.1 and my HD is 1tb and my video card is 2gb. This is the first time I noticed a problem with the number of objects.

Good Point. Could very well be part of the problem. Still don't know what the cap is as I mentioned to UT. Thanks. I'll try to cull out the objects I don't really need in each install.
 
It has nothing to do with hardware memory but how CFS2's memory works. Remember CFS2 is build on FS95/FS98 for Windows 95/98.
